Third Person's POV:

Itachi controlled himself from showing any emotion, he kept a blank face but Shisui knew that under that facade was annoyance . He was still in love with Izumi after so many years. Mikoto and Fugaku knew this and had tried to shake off his affection for the woman but failed. To say an Uchiha loves hard is an understatement. Once they fall in love, they rarely find someone else unless they realize the one they love doesn't return their love or they're dead. But even if these circumstances have been realized, an Uchiha moving on is really rare.

If it was any other Uchiha, they'd be left alone since many would think it's a lost cause but Itachi is the only heir to the clan. Sasuke defecting made things rough for Itachi since he's the only heir to the clan now. Itachi has only managed to deflect the clan because his power has surpassed Fugaku's by the time he turned 18.

Fugaku's POV:

I turned to my son and looked into his eyes, "Itachi, Elder Poro is right." I didn't really have much faith in convincing the boy but I didn't want to watch my own son pin after someone who clearly doesn't hold the same affections for him. I have never seen Izumi show any sign of affection more than that of a close friend. I thought that she simply didn't have a crush on Itachi yet since they were quite young at the time but clearly she never cared for Itachi at all.

I've sensed Itachi's team, Sasuke and 3 unfamiliar chakra signatures appear inside Sasuke's room which was weird since Sasuke should've appeared with Itachi and Shisui in this meeting. The only thing I could think was the reason was because Minato couldn't reinstate Sasuke as a shinobi of the Leaf. Whatever issues he has with those arrows is probably what's taking up his time. Even so this is an opportunity I can't pass up. I may know that Sasuke will be coming back to be reinstated as a shinobi of the Leaf but the elders don't. "You're not getting any younger." I'll use them to push for marriage or set up a miai. The other elders chimed in with more reasons for marriage.

"Itachi-sama, life of a shinobi is unpredictable. With Sasuke as a traitor, you're the only one who could lead and provide us with the next heir of the clan."

"Elder Jurein is right, the clan could end up losing the only heir we have left. If that were to happen the Uchiha clan will lose face."

Itachi seemed to about to explode on us so I quickly cut in and stood up. "Itachi come with me." I walked out of the room without looking back, knowing Itachi would follow right after. The plan was to piss off Itachi to the point he agrees to a miai to get the elders off his nerves. Preferably before Sasuke comes back but there's nothing I can really do about it. Even so, I can't really think of any other way at this point.

Even if by some miracle that Izumi comes back, she definitely won't be accepted back into the clan. She's more likely to face execution by the clan even if I were to go against it although that's if Minato doesn't interfere with clan matters which I have a feeling he would. The only way she'd get accepted is if she does something groundbreaking. Even so, it won't let her become a candidate for the matriarch seat unless she becomes renowned and successfully redeems herself. I am not going to count on that hope.

Itachi looked at me defiantly, eyes were burning with anger and irritation and challenging me to face them head on. I closed my eyes and opened them to meet his gaze head on, "There is nothing I can do about the elders," the corner of Itachi's mouth twitched. "I think it is best to simply agree to a miai to get them off your case." Itachi's mouth opened which I quickly continued, "Before you say anything, listen."

His mouth closed while his forehead creased. "Nothing about the miai will be set in stone; Itachi, you know this. All we want is for you to at least accept a miai." Emphasizing the "we" to mean myself and Mikoto would make him realize how much pressure has been put on us for his lack of a spouse. He'll inevitably agree because he never liked troubling his mother. As expected, Itachi's forehead stopped creasing and the corner of his mouth stopped twitching. Instead he looked resigned and his eyes no longer burned with anger. As he opened his mouth, I sighed silently in relief.

Got him.

Mew's POV:

As Izumi slept, I took a look at the states of the other worlds. They were all fine as of now so as long as Izumi's mission goes well, she'll be able to choose whichever world she wants to go to. Normally, whenever someone finishes a mission, they'd get a reward but this is a different case. This is a thankless work which is why the purest soul is looked to do this job and why it took so long to find a successor. A soul unsuited for the duty could end up destroying everything with time. What I worry about the most about the soul's future.

Will they be able to endure the infinite lives that they have to go through? Will they break from loneliness? Will they manage to stay sane throughout all this? What's really expected of them is to simply be able to stay sane. They can stay in the world for as long as they wish even if they finish the mission there. The only time they get kicked out is if another world needs their attention and that's usually by the world itself killing her through some sort of unknown illness or disaster.

I have gone through this and went through all stages of grief in record time. To find someone who I can relate to and understand me has been my biggest wish and my cruelest desire. I don't regret Y/N or rather Izumi becoming the master but it doesn't mean I feel guilty of what they'll be going through.

All I can do is to watch over her and see if Tsunade managed to come up with something. If she actually has something or can only suppress it further. I wasn't counting on the former because as good of a doctor she is, she only received notes of the symptoms and the early stages of the illness plaguing Izumi's body. The most Tsunade could probably do is ensure Izumi's body won't get damaged any further by the illness, the damage is probably permanent though.

It is said that the Byakugou seal could heal any injury, that's true which is probably why Izumi doesn't really care but the seal takes life force. Izumi has definitely been trying to set herself up for death since she's literally draining it slowly.

Oh well, how she lives is completely up to the author

-Shut up-

Bah. Where are the updates anyways gril?

-Yours truly has a writer's block rn so we're ending this now.-

Wait what?

I saw Izumi's eyes snap open and proceed to kick off her sheets.

-Yup all of you get off the stage. Yall can do whatever Satan or Jesus has planned.-

Izumi deadpanned. Tsunade deadpanned. Minato deadpanned. Hiashi deadpanned. I deadpanned. Jiraiya picked his nose, wait what? Author had the audacity to whip out a wide smile and a peace sign at us. Izumi turned to me, "Is she dipping?" I turned to Izumi, looking at her in the eye, "Probably. Honestly, it should've been obvious considering the fact she doesn't bother to look back at the scripts before pressing publish."

Izumi slumped, "Damn, I should've never accepted this job."

"I wish I didn't either."

"Shut up, you get to sleep and eat all day while I'm out here doing the heavy lifting! Not only that I'm underpaid!!!" Izumi threw her head back in exasperation as she screamed to whoever was above.

-Anyways cya in the next one!-
