"Oh...my...god..." Bishop stared at the carnage while hanging off the door of the engine, her jaw nearly on the floor, her free hand holding her helmet.
"Alright 19, listen up!" Captain Herrera began. "Sullivan has been called in, but until he arrives I will be running incident command. The main concerns we've got here are fuel leaks leading to flare ups and explosions, that fire spreading further and hypoxic passengers starved of oxygen. Warren, I need you and Montgomery to set up triage over there," pointing to a grass patch far enough from the plane to be considered safe. "Miller, Gibson, you're on search and rescue, I need every passenger out of that plane! Bishop, you and I will work fire attack until another company and battalion chief get here! By the trees, we'll anchor, flank and pinch! You all know what to do! Be safe, be cautious, let's get this scene contained!"
"Copy captain!" They all replied before heading off to complete their assignments.
An uninjured flight attendant from the front of the plane ran over to Andy, just as she was going to start explaining, a wave of panic washed back over her causing her to vomit to the side of where Andy stood. Andy stroked her back and then pulled her upright. "Ma'am can you tell me what happened. Are you hurt?"
"Bang... engine fire... nose dive...crash..." was all that came out of her mouth, as she began to hyperventilate.
"Ma'am calm down, you're having a panic attack. I need you to look at me and follow my breathing. Deep breaths. In and out, you can do it. Can you tell me your name?" Andy encouraged.
Taking a deep breath in and out, the flight attendant replied "Chloe, my name... is Chloe."
"Ok Chloe, well done, you're doing great, just in and out. Can you try again and tell me again what happened, Chloe?"
"There was a loud BANG and then it all happened so quickly. Everything was flying around, then we descended so fast, then there was a fire in the engine and we rolled to the left, causing a cart to fall on top of Janet. All of a sudden the plane was falling apart and we'd hit the ground. There was a firefighter on board she's tackling the fire now, but she won't stop screaming for someone!"
Andy heard nothing after 'there was a firefighter on board' as she realised her husband's worst fears may have actually been true. Turning to her now scattered team, she yelled, "Gibson, Miller, I think Hughes is on the plane! Montgomery, come and help Chloe, she's going to need some oxygen."
Travis shot up like a meerkat when he heard that Hughes might be on the plane. He dropped what he was doing and started to run towards the plane. "If Vic's on there I'm going after her!"
"Montgomery, no! Come back here, triage only! We've got her I promise! Travis! That's an order! Get back over here! Bishop, let's get Hughes! Miller, Gibson, switch with us! You're now on fire attack!"
Andy and Maya made their way towards the plane, small fires still ablaze inside. The sound of a fire extinguisher could barely be heard over the panic and terror, but it was there, Andy was sure of it. Behind one of the flames that kept growing back after every squirt, Victoria Hughes could be seen.
"Hughes!" Andy shouted. "Hughes! Stand down, get off the plane!"
Vic's head shot up at the sound of Andy's voice. As soon as she clocked eyes on the captain, relief overcame her, then suddenly, her eyes rolled back and she collapsed on the floor. Andy and Maya carefully manoeuvred themselves around the fire and grabbed Hughes under her armpits.
"Andy..." she murmured, starting to come back around. "Andy...Luke... I lost him...I can't find him," tears started filling Andy's eyes.
"Montgomery! She's here, come and take Her!"
"Vic! No no no no Vic, Vic! Are you ok?!" Travis asked her, slapping her cheek repeatedly to keep her awake and responsive. Vic stayed silent, a single tear fell down her cheek as she watched Andy and Maya run back to the plane to find Lucas.
"Here, breathe in to this." He said as he placed an oxygen mask on her. "What were you doing on a plane?!"
More sirens could be heard as more companies began showing up, shortly followed by the battalion chief. Getting out of his car he ran straight over to where Andy was. "Herrera, I'm taking over incident command. Update please?"
"Multiple pieces of aircraft, fire in the engine on the one side, fire being contained over by those trees. Many passengers unconscious from lack of oxygen with lacerations and internal bruising. Miller and Gibson are on fire attack, Montgomery and Warren, triage, Bishop and I on search and rescue. One firefighter found and being treated by Montgomery, one still missing." She slowed at that last part, Sullivan looked over to the triage tent to see Hughes lying on a gurney. He turned straight back to his wife, fear in his eyes at the realisation that Luke was the missing firefighter.
"Copy, let's get them found!" He shouted through a broken voice, trying not to cry.
"Hey, hey!... look at me. He will be OK... He will, be OK." She looked deeply in to his eyes trying her best to ground him emotionally so that he could continue doing his job instead of spiralling out of control.
"He will be OK," he repeated back to her, partly to try and convince himself. With that, he turned and went to brief the companies just arriving.

FanfictionHi friends, This is a Surrera and Vicley story! Mostly Surrera but I love Vicley too🥹 In this story, Ripley hasn't died, Sullivan is Battalion Chief and Herrera is captain. Michael is also still alive and works at Station 88. I appreciate the dates...
