*On a call*

Station 19 had been on a call for most of the night. A house in one of the near by neighbourhoods had been ablaze for several hours. It turned out that there had been a drug lab in the basement, and so there were a lot of chemicals polluting the sky. Andy had made the whole team mask up from the second they got there. Things were getting worse and it had quickly snowballed in to a 3 alarm fire, there was a family of 7 living in the 2 bedroom house, 2 of the children had been severely burned and another was suffering form terrible smoke inhalation. The Father of the family was being incredibly difficult and not listening to anyone, refusing to leave the basement because of the amount of money he was losing.

"Sir, you need to GET OUT now." Andy yelled.

"No! I'm NOT leaving!" The man replied.

The battalion chief had been called for the 3 alarm, so Robert arrived shortly after the yelling match.

"Gibson, update!" He barked, needing all the information he could give him, as quickly as possible.

"Drug lab in the basement, 2 critical condition medical emergencies, 1 severe smoke inhalation and 1 stubborn Father refusing to leave the basement. Captain and Hughes are down there trying to get him out." Gibson quickly relayed.

"Copy, I'm going in!"

"But sir you're now Incident Command!" He yelled after him.

"I know that Gibson! But I need to go in!"

Robert went straight in to assist Andy and Vic in removing the man from the scene before he gave Gibson a chance to say anything else.

"Sir, it's time to leave, NO EXCEPTIONS!" Robert yelled as Andy and Vic were trying to pull him out.

"I'M NOT GOING" the man replied.

Robert walked over to the man, slung him over the shoulder and tried to leave. The man was struggling like a tantrum ridden 2 year old and kicked over one of his vats of liquid. Some sort of smoke was rising from the liquid causing them all, even with their breathers on, to cough and choke repeatedly.

"Hughes, Herrera, get out of here, NOW!" Robert yelled.

The two ladies fought their way out of the house, coughing all the way. They both pulled their masks off as soon as they reached the fresh air and threw up all over the grass verge. Ben went rushing over to them with oxygen...trying to get them to take it though, was a different level of hard.

"I'm fine Ben" Hughes said.

"Me too." Herrera added.

"Guys, you need to put these masks on, you don't understand, we don't know which chemicals are at play here."

"Herrera, Hughes, get that oxygen on now or so help me god I will come over there and put it on you myself!" Robert yelled from the triage centre.

"Warren, take Aid Car 23 and get them both to hospital for a checkup."

"Yes Sir!" Warren shot back.

"Chief. I cannot abandon my team!" Herrera yelled in his general direction.

"You can if it's an order! I outrank you, now get in that Aid car!"

Hughes dragged Herrera towards the Aid Car and Ben jumped in with a firefighter from Station 23 and they drove straight to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

The team stayed behind and fought the blaze, another several hours going by before it was contained and safe for them to leave. They'd gotten everyone out and they'd had only bad casualties, no fatalities which was amazing given the circumstances. Station 88 had arrived to complete the overhaul and Michael passed Travis with a quick peck on the cheek.
