Chapter 33

*At the park*

It was the perfect day, leaves were forming big piles on the ground and there was a crisp chill when out of the direct sun. Robert had just pulled in to the car park when Luke and Vic pulled up beside them.

"Mummy it's Auntie Vic and Uncle Luke! Quick get me out, get me out!" Vannah yelled from her seat, bouncing up and down.

"I think you mean please Mummy will you help me?" Andy corrected her over excited daughter, but giggled slightly.

"Sorry, please Mummy will you help me? I really want to see Auntie Vic!" She pleaded.

Luke opened the door and Andy replied, "well look, Uncle Luke is there to help you anyway." He unclipped her buckles and picked her up.

"Hi Princess, how's that foot of yours?" He asked her.

"It's Ok, I'm getting better at walking with my crutches now! Where's Auntie Vic?"

"I'm here, I'm here!" She said, popping out from behind their car.

"Yay!" Vannah yelled and put her arms out to be carried by Vic.

Andy and Robert got out of the car and greeted their best friends. Robert took the pushchair out of the boot and popped it open for the car seats to clip on to. Both babies were still fast asleep so they were easy to transfer, leaving Andy to grab the bags and blankets to sit on. "Hey Ands, I'm going to say I came with you today, that cool?" Vic asked.

"Sure.. are you going to make an appearance as the fiancé or have you decided not to?" Andy asked.

"I think I'll appear, I'm not sure, what do you think? Is it better for you two now that everyone knows? Like, with the kids and everything?"

"Oh absolutely..." She paused, wondering whether or not to carry on with her train of thought.

"Go on.. what were you going to say?" Vic prompted.

"It's just that, well, after the accident with the plane, the whole team sort of.. guessed that you were with the Chief.. I mean, it wasn't hard to put two and two together, you were both there, you kept asking for a guy. Travis I'm 99% sure figured it out but no one's ever mentioned it since or asked me about it so I'm not really sure if they just know and aren't that bothered by it? Or they're just trying to respect your privacy, I don't know. Just maybe don't be overly surprised if no one acts completely shocked that you two are an item..."

"I honestly was thinking about this last night! I haven't mentioned it to Luke though" she whispered the last part. "Travis held me for so long in the waiting room, I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed some more. Why has he never said anything? And Miller, Warren.. they were all there.. have they said anything to you?" Vic asked, looking at Robert, as increased confusion consumed her face.

"No, never. I figured they'd just dropped it or honestly were too wrapped up in the news about us... Try not to think too much about it. Why don't you just act normal today, as you would around Luke when it's just us, and see if the questions come? I mean, Jack's bringing someone we've never met, Maya is bringing her new partner.. the babies, Meredith and Bailey, all of their kids. There'll be so much going on today it's probably the best time to come clean."

"Babe, it'll all be fine, I promise." Luke calmly said as he walked over to her and started to gently rub her back.

"Yeah Auntie Vic, It'll be great... then everyone can see your pretty ring!" She exclaimed, holding Vic's finger up to see the diamond sparkle.

"That's so true! I mean I'm wearing it now, maybe I'll just keep it on and see.."

"I for one cannot wait to be able to hug and kiss you whenever I like!" Luke said, almost giddy!
