Time Stamp: Shoto x Reader

Here it Starts pt. 2

Everyone stood at the ready... The League of Villains, well now known as the Paranormal Liberation Front. Our fight with them, the major incident that would start Midoriya and me on a downward spiral would soon begin. All that was left was to count the hours until it started. How many hours were left anyway? What was the deciding factor in the beginning of the end?

Today though, that's what I need to focus on. I don't remember much about the outcome, but it shouldn't matter. What matters is being ready to work as part of the rear guard. "It's almost time for the operation to start." Ida spoke with his helmet down. The others were starting to look antsy.

Especially Bakugou. "Damn it, why the hell am I in the back as support?! Let me go to the front!"

Shoto was the next to speak, his hand reaching for mine. "Bakugou, we only have provisional licenses."

While Bakugou told him to shut up, I also spoke. "Also, you have better ranged attacks with your quirks than those in the front. Excluding myself and Ida that seems to be how the groups were created. I'm probably serving as a backup warning in case I need to get back to this point, as well as a temp medic. I can rewind injuries to a point that the person is stable and it is probably a matter of saving my ability for when it's needed the most."

I let Shoto take my hand, it was warm... and a bit of a comfort. He must have been able to tell I was distracted. When we got the word about the front moving, we moved into action as well. Everything we had been training for to get to this moment was going to start here. This was going to be where I put my ability to use my quirk to the test. Not even just my quirk, my physical abilities as well. Over the last month, I had something similar to Aizawa and his capture scarf. Only instead of a capture weapon I got tape that I could put in several pouches around my waist.

It wasn't reusable like the scarf, but it was easier for me to use once I had incapacitated an enemy. When we got the call for evacuations to begin, I nodded to myself. I wasn't with Shoto or the others. I had focused on the areas that were less likely to be noticed by heroes. Places that as a child I would have hidden when things went wrong at home. There were a few people forming pairs, ones I could tell had crushes. Kaminari and Jero, Midoriya and Uraraka, I was sure there were others each fighting for the other. So... what about Shoto and me?

He has been there every step, even before I came back. He holds my hand every once in a while... Does that mean? I can ask later, for now I can choose to fight. There are things I need to make sure don't happen. If they do, it will turn out exactly the same as before. The most pressing to me... is Tarutarus. If that happens, it doesn't matter how many people we save now, it will all come crashing down like dominoes.

It felt like electricity running through my mind for just a brief moment. I stopped mid-knock. Turning to where the battle was raging. "Big... brother... Shigaraki?" This was it, where everything started... It was today. "No..." Turning on my heel, I ran to the hospital, I had to make it there. Everything around me was exploding and turning into dust, but I kept walking.

Someone was shouting into the earpiece. One of Endevor's people. "What's going on in the hospital? Someone, respond! Endeavor?! Ryukyu! Mirko! Crust! I don't care who, someone just answer me!"

I placed my fingers on the earpiece. "It's started... the fall of hero society. It all began here, the day that Shigaraki awoke his.. Plus Ultra. He, with All for One who escaped not long after will stand at the precipice as our world falls to ruin... and Decay." As I spoke the final words, the earpiece started to decay. Shigaraki stood opposite me, a hole between us. I watched as he walked to a case, opening it and pulling out a red vile. It was broken, but recognizable from the few police interviews I'd had about it after Kai was taken in.
