ACT THREE, CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
Under the Influence

KENDALL HEARD ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AT THE CLINIC. Scott filled her in on everything and it just worried her even more. She already had her suspicions when she noticed Andi's talisman was darker in colour but now there was more to it and she knew she needed to talk to Jasmine. She waited patiently for Jasmine to open the door after knocking and smiled politely when she did.

"Kendall. Very nice to see you again," she said and the brunette nodded.

"Hi, Ms. Nicks. Is there anybody else in the house?" Kendall asked.

"Andi's parents are here but they're aware of our world in case that's what you're worried about," Jasmine said and Kendall nodded.

"Yeah, you mentioned that last time. Also, I think Andi's in trouble," she said and Jasmine inhaled sharply and allowed Kendall inside.

Andi's mother was making something on the stove while her father cleaned the dishes and they paused when they saw Kendall there.

"What's going on?" Andi's mother asked.

"I think Andi's being influenced by the Book of the Damned," Kendall answered and Jasmine's eyes widened while Andi's father put the dishes down.

"Ma, that book. It's real?" he asked.

"It's very real and very dangerous. Andi found it in the Argents' apartment and I told her what it was and that was the last time I saw it," Jasmine explained.

"Andi told us you had it locked up in your basement," Kendall said with her brows pinched together and the older woman shook her head.

"Good Heavens, no. I wouldn't let that book stay in my house for a day," she replied.

"But if it's not here, then that means Andi has been keeping it somewhere else," Kendall said.

"Where would Andi keep an ancient book that has the power to corrupt you?" Andi's mother questioned.

Kendall thought about where Andi could've been hiding it the entire time and a thought came to her mind. "What about the Hale house? We found her unconscious there and she had a cloaking spell hiding the house when we got there. What if she put up the cloaking spell to hide the Hale house so she could hide the Book of the Damned somewhere inside the house?" Kendall asked.

"Wait, how are you sure she's being influenced by this book?" Andi's father questioned and Kendall sighed.

"She came to me about how she felt like she was losing control of her magic and I gave her advice. Her magic seemed like it was more amplified and then I noticed the stone on her talisman. It's usually bright green but then it was darker like if you were to add black paint to green paint and then I started thinking. There are different kinds of spells for different kinds of magic in the Book of the Damned, obviously dark magic being one of them. What if Andi never actually lost control of her magic? What if she just tapped into a kind of magic she can't control and she can't tell the difference between which is which?" she prompted and Jasmine's shoulders dropped.
