4 ~ Newborn Battle

Melody's PoV ~

It was the supposed battle day at least that's what Alice seemed to believe we will have to just wait to see later. I again had to convince Charlie to let Bella spend the day with her boy toy Edward, then once the trouble magnet was out of the house I needed to get Charlie to the Res so I knew he would be safe. That was easier said than done as the man is so stubborn and wanted to work, funnily enough all I had to do was take food to the station and they let Charlie leave.

I knew Billy and Sue would protect my brother while I was busy fighting because Isabella Swan doesn't know how to stay out of trouble. Now not only are the Cullens affected but the pack is as well, and something is bugging me about this I feel like the trouble magnet has shortened my life.

Well I knew I would have to become a vampire sooner or later as I knew the secret however, it just felt like it would be sooner than I planned because of Bella. I left Charlie after I told him I was just gonna sit in my clearing he knew where that was as he would always find me there when I needed to think. The thing is I did need to think I was gonna help the people that kill my friend's mate and now kill my friend.

The plan was to have Bella scent the area by putting some blood on the surrounding trees to confuse them, then take her to the mountain so that she is away from the fight. The Cullens will wait in the clearing and start the fight and the pack will join shortly, I was there to heal any injuries and start the fire to fully destroy the new borns and I could easily defend myself.

I decided to go where the fight was supposed to take place and sat in a tree and just waited for everything to begin. Although, a part of me was hoping that nothing happened as this could've be avoided, but I knew better things had been going on, and now this is the boiling point and there's no way off stopping it.

The pack was waiting in their wolf forms and I would give them a signal when it was time, I sent them a message of stay alive and receive replies from them all saying of course but that didn't stop me from worrying. I knew my brothers and sister were strong and could handle themselves but I will worry about those I care about. One thing that's been playing on my mind though is I called Seth and Leah my brother and sister but I see them more as my children, I will think about that later.

It would seem that luck wasn't on my side as the new borns showed up like Alice said however I felt another presence, it confused me but I gave the signal and provided extra support for everyone and covered all blind spots they had. I could tell that the new borns were confused as to what was going on and the other presence seemed to be looking around to figure out what was happening.

I had to do everything I could to hold in my laughter, but stopped when I saw a newborn girl being cornered and scared so I use the trees and lift her up towards me and she melts into my embrace. Something about her made me want to protect her like a mother would and I couldn't explain it, I could feel her shaking and I began to hum hoping to calm her down.

"Hiya honey I promise you are safe" she looks at me and I no longer see fear in her eyes which makes me happy but I feel a presence behind me and I can't find it in me to be scared "you can come out" but I was met with silence so I decided to ignore as I could be overreacting as there was a army of newborns around me. I could see that the battle was coming to an end so I lowered myself and the girl in my arms to the ground when I saw a newborn attack Leah.

Jacob instantly jumped in to save her and ended up being crushed I had to work quickly to heal him as that bad feeling was getting worse, instantly I have a fire made for the Cullens and was already working on healing Jacob enough to get him home then I would heal him again once I was done here. The pack picks him up and takes him "if it gets worse howl I will hear you" they nod at me and carry him away I look at Leah and I see she's hurt "we will talk when I come to the res" I kiss her cheek and watch her go.
