Present day...
North sat in his workshop. He read over his list of the naughty and the nice, for the second time. Christmas was in a week, and the North Pole was in mass production mode to try to get ready for it.
He'd reached the Ks on the nice list when he called out to his elves "Still waiting for cocoa!". The elves who were currently cannon balling into the pot of hot chocolate immediately looked at each other in guilt and fear.
He'd finished the Ks and had started on the Ls when the elves finally came with the mug of cocoa. He lifted the mug to take a sip, when the loud noise of knocking caused him to jump and spill his cocoa all over him.
He turned around, soaked in the hot, sticky, sweet brown liquid to see one of his yetis standing there shocked.
"Could you, next time knock QUIETER?!" North yelled.
The yeti began to stammer something or other about the shadows in the Globe's room. "What, the Globe?" North asks as he grabs his swords.
He rushed into the room. The room, which usually was bright from the skylights was unusually shadowed. The Globe was covered in shadows as well, the lights of the children the only thing stopping it from being a dark sphere.
Suddenly, the shadows departed, leaving the room as it was. But then, they formed the shape of a large hand, which covered the Globe, turning the lights from their golden color, to black and they then disappeared.
North gasped as the shadows then formed the shape of a man. A man he knew. The Pitch Black shadow tilted his head back and laughed as he drifted over the globe, he then disappeared, taking the shadows with him. The lights returned to normal, leaving North to question what he just saw.
"Elves! Make preparations. We have company." North pressed the button to send out the multicolored auroras to call his fellow guardians to him.
Jack jumped off of Canada's parliament, heading north, or well. Norther. Bunny jumped into one of his tunnels, landing INSIDE North's home this time. Sandman fashioned himself a rocket and flew behind Tooth, who later hitched a ride with him when they got close to the Pole to escape the wind and chill.
"Evening gentlemen, Tooth. You're looking lovely today, did you do something with your feathers?" North said as he greeted his comrades and friends. After a few minutes of pleasurable conversation and greetings, Bunny got down to business.
"What is it North? I know it'll be something big since you summoned us here a week before Christmas." Bunny said.
"Right you are Bunny. I sorry to say this, but Pitch is back.". "What, again?" Tooth asked. North nodded in reply.
"But it's only been, what? Ten years?" Bunny asked. "Oh wow, you're becoming REALLY incompetent guys." Jack laughed.
"You're one of us now mate." Bunny noted. "Hey, don't look at me, I just got here." Jack responded.
"What happened North?" Tooth asked. "There were... shadows covering the globe. And then all the lights went out.". "And then what?" Jack asked. "The shadows formed into Pitch, and then he just... disappeared. Poof."
"Wait, he just disappeared? And then what?" Bunny asked. "Nothing." North replied. "NOTHING?!" Bunny exclaimed. "You mean to say that you brought me here, to this frozen desolate place, for NOTHING!". "It was not nothing! I saw him! He's back. I can feel it, in my belly!"
While they were fighting, Jack looked up and saw the moon shining down on them. The moon. That's it. He looked down. Sandy had seen it too. "Hey guys!" Jack called. But no one heard him over North and Bunny's bickering. "Guys!" he called a little louder. Still, they didn't hear him.
Sandy eventually had enough and grabbed an elf, shaking it furiously.
That got their attention. The other three guardians looked up to see Sandman pointing at the moon, with Jack standing behind him. "Ah, Man in Moon! Sandy, Jack! Why didn't you say something." Jack rolled his eyes.
"It's been a while, my friend. What news have you for us?" The moon's beam of light appears on the ground and the shadow of pitch appears on the ground. The guardians gasp in shock. The moon then pulls the crystal up from the ground. "A new guardian?" North says. "Another one?" Bunny asks. "Who do you think it'll be this time?" Tooth asks, Sandy created a tree above his head, signifying his thoughts. "Gaia? Maybe."
The crystal began to take form, a cloaked young woman with a dark hood over dark hair. Her dress was long and dark as well. In her hand, she held a scythe. Looks of confusion appeared on their faces.
"Who is that?" Tooth asked. "It kind of looks like..." Bunny was cut off as the projection moved, the woman stroked the blade of the scythe. As she did so, her skin seemed to melt off of her, revealing a figure that four of the five people had seen only once.
"Grim Reaper." North finished for Bunny. "Who?" Jack asked. "The death spirit Jack, she's the one who ends everyone's lives." Tooth told him. "She's also affiliated with Pitch." "Bunny! We don't know that!" Tooth exclaimed.
"Do we? When was the only time we've ever seen her? With Pitch. What did she do when she saw us? She ran and hid. Who else has been hiding from us for centuries? Pitch. Do you see where I'm coming from? She can't be trusted. She's a dark, evil, coldhearted- "
"-Guardian." North interrupted.
