No reason for the above image, it just made me laugh far too hard. This chapter may suck, I kind of suck at romance and I hate, like public displays or people finding out about personal stuff before you want them to, I think it's embarrassing and cringy. Also, at the end, some of the characters we meet are my own invention, and the others are inspired by characters from the Guardians of Childhood books. Side note, I have been writing this story for over a year now (yay)! I have no idea when I first started this thing, because I can only see when I last edited a chapter, not when I first posted it, but I remember writing the first ones around christmas. Also sorry that I haven't posted in almost a month, high school, it turns out, loves to give you a million assignments in the two weeks before christmas. Enjoy! :)
The group headed down the mountain, Melinoe leading them. She glanced around her, marveling at the winter wonderland around her. Soft snowflakes fluttered around her, landing in her hair as she wandered around, head swiveling around to get a look at everything.
Fluffy snow blanketed the evergreens and icicles hung from deciduous trees, catching the last light of the day. Beautiful she thought.
"Mel! Don't go too far ahead, remember!" Lorelai reminded her.
"I won't!" she called back, before going too far ahead.
A thunk and a tug made her stop in her tracks. She turned around. A blue thread, almost invisible connected her to her mother.
"What did I just say?" she asked as she jogged up to her daughter.
"Sorry..." Melinoe replied. Lorelai smiled.
"Twenty five meters. Any farther and you get pulled back to me," she said. The thread dissipated, but Mel knew it was still there. Her mother may be letting her outside, but she wouldn't let her out of sight.

Jack glanced over at Lorelai. It wasn't the first time. It probably wouldn't be the last time. He was surprised that she hadn't noticed yet. Or maybe she had and she was just ignoring him. Either way, the tension was killing him. Haha. Lorelai would love that joke.
He wanted to go over to talk to her, but Nyx was standing literally at Lorelai's heel, holding onto her dress and Hecate, though farther away, was still within earshot. He didn't know much about courting or getting girls to like him, but he didn't suspect doing it in front of their children would do much.
Min sighed, rolled her eyes and walked over to him, followed closely by the girl with the long red hair.
"Are you going to go talk to her?" she whispered.
"I can't, her kids are basically attached to her." he replied. Min sighed again, as if annoyed with the very existence of Jack.
"I'll get them away from her. But this time, don't mess it up," she warned him before swiftly heading over to Lorelai. She returned with Nyx on her hip and Hecate by her side. She cocked her head to the side, gesturing toward Lorelai, before she continued onward with the red haired girl, chatting merrily between themselves.
Jack jogged up to Lorelai whom had quickened her pace when Min had taken away her children.
"Lorelai! We need to talk," he said when they were out of earshot.
"Nope, no we do not, we most certainly do not" she replied, almost at a jog now.
"I-what are you doing?" he asked.
"I-I, isn't it obvious? I'm running away. I'm running away from my problems. I'm trying to hide and run away, like I always do, but you just won't let me run away, will you?" she spun around and spoke, frantically, emotionally.
