The warm morning sun immediately hit Beomgyu in the face when he left his house. He held his arm in front of his eyes, for the glare was unbearable in his slightly hungover state, and unceremoniously put on his sunglasses. The throbbing of his head had been strongly felt since he got up, but the young student knew where the headache came from and was used to it. So he crossed the street to get to his best friend's house. Taking a usual look at the older man's balcony, he could see that the glass door was still locked. Possibly Yeonjun was still asleep and had yet to recover from last night's seizure.
Who would blame him?
Beomgyu was really glad that he didn't have to take him to a hospital, it had been bad enough for him to leave Yeonjun alone in his bed in this state. But his best friend had assured him that he could manage on his own, and so the black-haired man had gone back home. But no sooner had the youngest of the group opened his eyes than he had dressed and walked over to the Chois, where he now stood at the front door, ringing the doorbell.
After only a few seconds, the door was opened for him by Choi Minki, the eldest son of the Chois. He looked a little surprised when his brother's best friend arrived so early.
"Hey Minki," Beomgyu greeted the other boy calmly. "Is Yeonjun still in bed?" To add to his scrutinizing look, he took the sunglasses off his nose again and held them between his fingers, watching as Minki nodded slowly. Although the two were the same age, there was a certain respect for the other. At least from Beomgyu's side, who couldn't deny that he admired the dark-haired man for his sense of duty. And perhaps he also envied Yeonjun for having such a good brother, even if his best friend didn't share the same opinion.
"Yes, come in," Minki asked, holding the door open a little wider to allow the visitor to enter. "What happened yesterday? Yeonjun didn't say a word."
They both shifted their conversation to the kitchen, where there was a medium-sized pot on the stove with something boiling away. When Beomgyu stood next to the kitchen island and glanced into the pot, he could see a fragrant broth that was definitely going to be soup. He turned his head to look at Minki, but the latter did not return the look.
"You could bring the soup up to him," Minki finally said. "I'm sure Yeonjun won't get a foot out of bed today. But don't you dare spill it!" Threateningly, Yeonjun's eldest brother raised his index finger and Beomgyu nodded artfully. Anything was fine with him as long as there was something to get Yeonjun back on his feet. "So?" Minki motherly braced his hands against his hips and looked questioningly at Beomgyu. Secretly, the black-haired man wondered if Minki had always had that feminine touch, or if it was just the apron and the fact that he was taking care of his brothers. "What was going on?", Minki wanted to know and tilted his head to the side, his gaze still questioningly directed at his counterpart.
Beomgyu lowered his head, not only because he really felt like he was talking to a guardian, but also because he felt responsible for Yeonjun's condition. He shouldn't have let them talk about this issue, and he didn't want to mention it to Minki either. After all, it was also about his mother. So he decided to give an evasive answer.
