Total silence reigned on the small, square table of the MOA terrace while the world was in full swing around the three friends. Gyeongseok sat silently across from his best friend Dino, had his arms stubbornly folded in front of his chest, and didn't even think to stop staring. From the outside, you'd probably think the two boys were having a staring contest and whoever won got a brand new PS4 game as a reward.
But that wasn't the case, the two had been arguing and were giving each other nasty looks as a result.
Seungkwan was also sitting on the bench where the actually quiet Dino was, glancing between the two every now and then, hoping they would soon get their act together. The loud, long sigh signaled that he was tired of this silence and just found it childish. Yet all three knew that Seungkwan sometimes acted like a child as well. But the latter insisted that his sighing should interrupt the gloomy mood.
For he tried again.
After no response came from either of the stubborn men, Seungkwan struck the marbled table with the flat of his hand. Briefly, he hissed as if he had injured himself in the action and began to puff air into his aching hand for several seconds. Again, this got neither a response nor attention and thus Seungkwan initiated, "My mother grounded me for twenty years after that action."
Silence.
One could almost have imagined hearing the crickets chirping. But instead it was the numerous fellow students passing by. Some were laughing, some were whispering, and the conversations of a few were even about Beomgyu and Yeonjun's party, yet it had been a while.
"Hmmm," Choi Gyeongseok grimly turned his head away from his counterpart's face and stared at the parasols that were above each table. These were decorated by a delicate pattern that wasn't even noticeable the first time you looked.
"I don't think I'll be able to try to organize a date for yours truly for quite some time," Seungkwan whined, dramatically brushing a strand of hair out of his face. You'd be forgiven for thinking he was taking a drama class at least three times a week.
Drama queen was already in his blood.
But the two angry youngsters were already used to that, didn't care about the older one's whining. Only Dino's snorting filled the round, he hoped the blabbermouth would finally shut up and give his buddies a chance to be silently pissed. Normally Dino wasn't the type to be in such a bad mood, but since it was the Chois' nestling, he wanted to keep up.
"But it was worth it, wasn't it?" the talkative student began again. "After all, we were at one of Beomgyu and Yeonjun's best parties."
The feigned smile on his lips disappeared immediately when he didn't get a response to that either, and now the hitherto patient one lost his desire to talk. When not a single person wanted to respond to his words, it made him furious. It was unfair that he always listened to everyone and no one bothered to give him any assistance. After all, twenty years of being grounded was a lot and this time the Boo mother seemed serious at the undertone she had in her voice. Normally her son wasn't afraid of it, but the roll in her throat was scarier than any horror movie.
