A blast of cool air came to Kai as he opened the door to the roof of MOA University, having searched what felt like every room with a clock. The tower clock on the roof had been his last destination, so the brown-haired man struggled to catch his breath.

Hopefully Ethan had not waited too long for him.

For this he discovered sitting on a bench, covered by a brick pavilion and surrounded by some stacks of books. The black-haired man's gaze was directed towards the sky and he blinked directly against the sunlight. At first he didn't seem to notice Kai. But when the latter turned his attention away from the sun, he noticed Kai and gave his tutoring student a smile, "That was pretty quick."

Embarrassed, the Huening lowered his head and was pleased that Ethan had praised him, though he had even thought it had taken him far too long.

"Well, to be honest, I had some support," Kai admitted with reddened cheeks and slowly approached the bench where Ethan was sitting. His curiosity drove away the shame, however, and so his eyes wandered over the many books the model student was surrounded by.

"It's no big deal," Ethan returned, tapping the empty seat next to him. Kai didn't have to be asked twice and sat down next to him with a broad grin.

"I love riddles!" he simply let his seatmate know incoherently, to which he responded with a low, hoarse laugh.

There it was again.

The laughter that Kai had missed for some time and could hear all day. It might not usually be loud as usual, but it was enough to make Ethan's face start to glow. And that was just because of a little thing Kai had said.

"I thought so, you are Sherlock Kai after all."

Even now he couldn't hide his joy and finally held his palm up, right in front of Ethan's chest, whereupon he looked at him questioningly. It was obvious that he didn't know what Kai was getting at with this gesture. He looked like he was waiting for something. "Well, I've solved the task after all, where's the almighty ring?" the brown-haired man asked, waving his fingers in a prompting manner.

Ethan, on the other hand, had only another laugh in return and merely slapped the proffered palm, "Sorry, no ring for you today."

With puffy, offended hamster cheeks, Kai leaned back again, but couldn't stay mad for long, letting the butterflies in his stomach inspire him. He enjoyed this feeling of happiness, which traveled energy-like through his body. It was nice up here, together with Ethan. He couldn't imagine a better place. Whereas, actually, it didn't matter what kind of place it was.

Kai just wanted to be with him.

Finally, Kai looked back at the note he still held in his hand before waving it around in front of his seatmate. "Why did you actually do that?" he asked curiously, because he himself would never have thought that his tutor would do something like that.
