Kai and Ethan sat down at the set-up tables outside in the garden after grabbing a beer. The brown-haired man had won handily over the birthday boy, who had grumpily demanded some time to himself, leaving the two evenly matched.

"Is Beomgyu always this pissed off when he loses?" asked Ethan finally, as he let his gaze wander over the many partygoers. Some guys and girls were splashing around in the pool or enjoying the heated Jacuzzi. The fact that so many were walking around so lightly dressed, even though it was actually very cool in the evening, Ethan skillfully ignored and instead waited for Kai's answer.

Kai, who was sitting next to Ethan, thought for a moment, shook his head, and then said, "Actually, Yeonjun is more likely to be the sore loser. I think he's mad about something else."

Astonished at the honesty, the smart student raised his eyebrows and looked at Kai, who was sitting on the bench in a big hoodie, as if ordered and not picked up. He had his hands tucked under his thighs, so his childish face matched that posture all the more. "You know him well, then," Ethan observed. "I thought it was the game."

In fact, it was surprising that the otherwise unfocused teenager recognized the various differences between 'pissed off about losing a game' and 'pissed off for various other reasons'. But Kai merely grinned, then tapped his temple with raised eyebrows as he commented, "Sherlock Kai, don't you remember?"

He elicited a loud laugh from the boy, causing even the other guests to turn to him briefly, but the two boys didn't seem to care.

"How could I forget?"

Cutely, 'Sherlock Kai' chuckled while holding his slender fingers in front of his mouth, for he was proud that he had made Ethan laugh. "I'm very glad you decided to come after all, by the way," Kai then said with a smile, watching the other turn his head away in embarrassment. If he wasn't mistaken, he could even see a slightly flushed glow on Ethan's cheeks, which made him jump even higher somersaults inside.

"You looked so down when I said no," the tutor explained, remembering the pout Kai had worn all the rest of the evening then.

The latter, however, raised his index finger and put on a really serious expression as he spoke sulkily, "I was very down too ..."

"It's okay!" laughed Ethan, placing his hand over Kai's fingers to push back on the table. "I've got it all figured out. That's why I'm here," he said, completely amused by the rich boy's behavior that he hadn't even noticed how quickly his tutoring student pulled his hand away and lowered his eyes in embarrassment.

Silently, the two turned their attention back to their beer, sipping it at the same time and observing the surrounding guests. As the night air found a small updraft and the temperature brightened a bit, which most didn't even feel because of their alcohol consumption, Ethan began to shiver because of his light clothing. For a long time Ethan had thought about bringing a sweater, but then had completely given it up because of the heat wave in the afternoon. Besides, he had been of the opinion that he would not stay long. Kai, who had happened to glance at his seatmate, had not missed the shivering of his personal guest and widened his eyes in concern. Without hesitation, he pulled the cozy hoodie off his head and held it out to his crush.
