Together, the clique sat in the lecture hall and waited with complete tension for the lecturer to distribute the last exam written. It had become completely silent in the large, wide room and one could feel how excited every single student was. Everyone present held their breath as the lecturer finally uttered his final sentence and slowly, almost in slow motion, walked over to the stack of papers. This lay on a small table, alphabetically arranged. Gently, he rested his hand on the paper, glancing once more at the nervous faces of the young people. "I'm glad to see that some of my students have really put in the work for this exam," he began, even smiling slightly, but those in question just stared at the stack under his hand.

Not so much talk, but dish it out!

"Don't forget that the semester break starts in October and you'll have to get behind the books hard again," he admonished, his eyes darting back and forth between some of those addressed.

His voice was calm, yet firm, as he counted on each and every person in the room. Finally, he began handing out the corrected exams. In that time, there was complete silence and tension in the room. Everyone just wanted to hold the envelope in their hands and know what the results were. As soon as the lecturer had handed out everything and was standing in front of his desk again, a smile crept onto his lips.

"Okay, before you pass out," the older gentleman announced. "You may look in now."

As if after a starting gun, the rustling of leaves could be heard, amazed, even joyful giggles filled the room, but disappointed sighs and groans could also be heard from those students who had not done so well.

However, there was one student among them who was particularly happy about his result: Huening Kai.

He could not help smiling broadly after seeing that he had improved from a five to a respectable three.

Soobin, who was sitting next to him and had smugly closed his envelope again, glanced at Kai and was also quite surprised by the latter's grade. "Wow, Kai, a C! That's much better than your last grade with Mr. Lee," he noted happily, patting his buddy appreciatively on the shoulder.

He nodded eagerly and could not hide his pride. He also directly took it upon himself to thank Ethan for this, as it was all largely his doing.

Taehyun had overheard Soobin's words and leaned over to his best friend, spotting the note and patting Kai on the shoulder as well. "Where did this sudden change of heart come from?" the bespectacled man asked. "Have you found joy in learning?"

A bit taken aback, Kai waved it off, even laughing a bit playfully, and replied, "Don't be ridiculous, I just sat down and studied for a while."

Taehyun could only shake his head with a smile at this statement, for he could not deny how proud he was of Kai. The fact that the latter wanted to improve his grades was a real boost. "I'm really relieved," Taehyun let him know, surprised even with his joy. And actually, he wasn't the kind of person to show pride in relation to another person.
