a school

Silent laughter echoes off of hollow walls,
Empty smiles cause tears to fall.
Unrecognisable faces in an inescapable maze,
Ghostly talk causes unseeing eyes to glaze.
Hushed whispers in an even quieter place,
Timid footsteps leave nothing, no trace.
Quick glances from wall to wall,
Airy voices don't shout or call.
This building was once a place of liberty and optimism,
Now a crime scene contaminated with pessimism.
Who is there left to blame when oblivion comes calling out our names?
Who is there to judge the judge when the jury typically holds a grudge?
Questions are the source of all knowledge,
Our teachers the ones to acknowledge.
Silhouettes of children against a painted wall,
This is the start of learning how to rise and fall.
