The taste of better days

Never had beauty been so opaque
As the cherry blossom tree dripped petals of the brightest transparency
through my crowded head.

Never had sunshine been so bright
As the perfect amount of golden fell through my wide eyes and cleared all of my existence.

Never had I felt so content
As my footsteps seemed hushed,
And my heart beat was a shouting whisper.

When we hung our heads out of the window
And I could feel an abyss of recovery.

When I turned pages of a book
Under clarity and the words floated into the air and rearranged themselves into you.

When I played the keys so passionately
With the window so far open that I felt as though I might fly away.

When we walked through the woods
And we were autumn leaves that we kicked up under dusk.

When I read to you whilst we soared through clouds
And we were on top of the world.

When I ran across sand
And I threw my arms out
And spun like a drunk.

When I read you a poem
And my voice didn't waver but, instead, it was so steady that everything fell into place.

When we smiled at each other
And I could taste infinities.

Moments are going to amount to permanency.
