You can smile when it rains
And let your tears wash away the sun
Until there is not light or heat
And the days are apocalyptic
And the earth dies too.You can jump from the sky
And fall for the ground
And let the sudden flow of blood to your head
Dizzy you
Yet make it clearer for you.You can swim through the air
And walk through the water
And feel the gradual ebb and flow
Tear away at your insides
Until your heart and lungs implode. You can run across the tightrope
And tiptoe on land
And step carefully around the feelings
Of everyone you have loved
Until you step on a land mine. You can laugh when you want to die
And sob and shake when you feel happy
And give yourself shock therapy
And slump in the electric chair. You can love until your blood boils
And hate until your numb
And feel yourself simmer
Until you combust
Like a witch at a stake. You can struggle to breathe in air
And breathe freely in carbon monoxide
Until your head spins
And the ground shakes
And the noose snaps your spine. You can do anything
But will ultimately perish
For immortality is not for the living.
