"Are you the one who actually set Nagito free?" Chiaki asked, coming to a realization.

I raised an eyebrow at her. "Did he tell you otherwise?"

"He said that Monomi freed him. . .!" Hajime corrected. "Why would you do something like that. . .!?"

"Well, please forgive me for not consulting everyone at the murder scene of one of the few people I thought I could trust here. . .!" I retaliated. "What did you find, Nagito?"

"Hm. . ." He thought for a moment before tilting his head, raising his hand and raising his chin. "I'll tell you if you drop to your knees and beg me."

Huh. . .?

"Is. . . that a request?" I tried to keep my voice down as best I could.

". . .Juuuust kidding, I was joking." He assured.

He sounded so serious about it though. . .

He continued. "Well, it's about the footprints. . . The killer left their footprints in front of the beach house, right?"

"Did. . . did you find out whose footprints those are!?" Hajime guessed.

"If you want to know, I highly recommend you come to the beach house with me."

"With you. . .?" The brunet echoed.

". . .Of course, you'll come with me, right?"

". . .What are going to do, Chiaki?" We all turned to face the gamer girl who had her hood over her head while deep in thought.

". . . I'm going to try to talk to Fuyuhiko and see if he can tell me anything." She answered. "So I'll leave this to you."

"Yeah, that's definitely a good idea." Nagito agreed. "If someone like me tried to talk to him, it'd be impossible, but it might be different with a girl. Just be careful that he doesn't get rough with you. . ."

I sighed as I remembered the conversation I had had with the Ultimate Yakuza minutes earlier. "I doubt you'll get far, but good luck Chiaki."

She nodded at me and said her goodbyes.

"Huh? Did you actually want her to stay?" Nagito asked once Chiaki was out of earshot.

"Actually?" Hajime cocked his head in confusion. "What do you mean. . ."

Nagito waved his hand as if to dismiss his comment. "Let's go. Y/N and I will go on to the beach house and wait there."

With that, Nagito took me by the hand and led the way off the hotel site, leaving Hajime behind. Once we reached Jabberwock Park he realized that he was still holding my hand and reluctantly let go. As we started on the bridge to the second island, he decided to break the silence finally.

"When you said that you doubt Chiaki would far with Fuyuhiko, what did you mean. . .?"

"Oh, that? After I sent you off to play the game, I decided to have a chat with him." I answered.

His eyes grew wide. "You talked to him by yourself. . .?! A-Are you okay?"

A light laugh escaped me before I responded. "Yes, I'm fine. Fuyuhiko has a hardened exterior, but. . . deep down, I think he just wants to protect those close to him."

"Why did you talk to him anyway?" He asked.

"I asked him if he was the killer." I answered blankly.

"You what. . .!?" He stopped.

"He denied it, as anyone would. . ." I went on. "So I asked him about the ending prize for beating the game, which he also dismissed, saying that he had never played it. I told him that I saw him with the envelope the morning after it was introduced, and in response, he said that it wasn't my business and that he didn't kill Mahiru.
