I couldn't get much sleep that night, so I decided to head to the restaurant before the morning announcement. I assumed the others might show up eventually, so I decided to make breakfast. It was the least I could do. . .
Chiaki was one of the first to arrive after the announcement. "Y/N. . .? What are you doing here so early?"
"I thought I'd make everyone some breakfast," I responded. "I hope you like pancakes!"
She smiled and took a seat at one of the tables. As everyone else came, she told them to take a seat and wait to be served. Mahiru was one of the last to show up and everyone began a discussion I didn't listen to. Eventually, I heard Hiyoko let out a loud cry, causing me to pause my actions and investigate.
"Oh, she's crying!" Ibuki commented. I walked over to get an explanation.
"Y/N!" Akane greeted. "Is the food ready yet?"
"Not quite." I sighed. "What happened here? Why is Hiyoko crying?"
"I've said it before, but you guys are really insensitive!" Mahiru scolded, directed at the group and not me.
"Ah, no. . . it actually doesn't smell that bad. . ." Kazuichi corrected. "I mean, as long as I breathe with my mouth. . ."
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Hiyoko cried again.
"I'm confused. . .What smell?" I asked.
"You don't smell it?" Peko questioned. I shook my head, still confused.
"Hiyoko. . ." Kazuichi gestured. "She reeks!"
"Kazuichi!" Mahiru addressed.
"Seriously. . . Are you even takin' baths?" Akane wondered.
"Ugh. . ." Hiyoko sniffed. ". . .No."
"Y-You haven't bathed. . .!?" Hajime questioned.
"I. . . I can't help it. . ." She explained between sobs. "I can't tie my kimono sash by myself. . . Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"
"H-Hey. . .Hiyoko. . ." Mahiru kneeled down to her. "You don't have to cry so much. . . I'll tie your sash for you, okay?"
". . .Really?"
"I can only tie a simple knot, but. . . if that's okay with you, I can teach you." Mahiru offered.
"Yaaaaay!" Hiyoko cheered. "I love you, Mahiru! I'll give you a kiss!"
Hiyoko wrapped her arms around Mahiru's neck and squeezed her tightly.
"H-Hey Hiyoko. . . You don't have to hug me." Mahiru sighed.
". . .Kehehe," Gundham snickered. "She appears to have taken a liking to you."
"Welcome to the world of girl love!" Ibuki posed. "It's slippery when wet!"
I couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
"I'll get back to breakfast." I smiled. "It should be ready soon."
I walked back over to the kitchen and finished the pancakes. There were plenty, I knew Akane would want seconds. I carried four plates balanced across my arms and began distributing them. I wasn't paying attention to their current conversation, though Nekomaru caught me up pretty quick.
"J-Just letting you know. . . I don't know anything! W-Without hesitation, I-I don't know anything about Nagito at all!" He insisted.
His sudden exclamation almost made me drop the plate I was placing in front of him.
"He's right, forget him!" Kazuichi agreed. "Let's just forget about that creep already!"
I took a look around and noticed that Nagito was nowhere to be seen.
