I ended up sleeping in that morning, only being awoken by screams coming from the restaurant. The shrieks made me practically jump out of my bed and rush over to the building. Once I reached the top of the balcony stairs, the first thing that caught my eye was an odd altar set up against the wall.

It looked like a traditional funeral altar; stacks of white flowers and candles centred around a board of photos. What caught my attention were the three animal skulls placed with the flowers and the ominous aura emanating from the display. I looked closer at the pictures pinned on the board. They were taken by Mahiru. Despite its aura, I realized that whoever made the altar was trying to make a tribute to Mahiru. At first glance, it may have seemed like the altar was some kind of threat or way of disrespecting her, but that wasn't the case. It was the way they went about setting it up that gave that impression.

I walked closer to the altar and felt myself smile as I remembered the moments in the photos. Even in our current situation, Mahiru was able to capture the few minutes in which we were able to forget about it. Whoever made it was trying to properly mourn and honour her. If that's the case, it was probably. . .

"M-Mahiru. . . was really. . . really nice. . ." I heard Hiyoko speaking through tears. "She politely. . . taught me. . . how to tie my kimono. . ."

"She was. . . really good at taking care of others. . ." Mikan nodded.

"Mahiru's. . . probably lonely by herself. . ." Her tears continued to build. "So I wanted to tell her. . . that she's not alone. . . even if she's in heaven. . . I-I did. . . wanna. . . make it look better. . . but. . . But unless I'm dancing. . . I'm so clumsy at whatever I do. . . Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I'm sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy!"

Everyone apologized after her. They clearly misunderstood her intention.

"I-It looks like we misunderstood. . ." Kazuichi rubbed his neck nervously. "N-Now that I take a closer look, it looks like you put a lot of thought into the decorations! Soooo. . . let's keep this thing around until we get off this island. . ."

". . .No, it should come with us when we get off this island, too." Sonia suggested. "It would be a waste to leave behind. . . such wonderful photos."

"I agree." I walked over to the group. "We should always be able to remember her. . . even after we leave here."

Hiyoko sniffled and looked around at everyone. ". . .So we're not gonna burn it?"

"Of course not! We would never burn it!" Nekomaru responded defensively.

Akane cocked her head. "Weren't you the one who started shoutin' that?"

"Fine, then I'll forgive you all! Except Mikan, of course!" She threw her hands up happily. And she's back to normal. . .

"Maaaaan, it's so unexpected. . ." Ibuki crossed her arms. "I really can't imagine Hiyoko being so diligent and earnest about something!"

Hiyoko blushed and looked away. "Wh-Who. . .cares about that. . .?"

". . .Hiyoko has a very kind heart." Sonia smiled.

"K-Kind, oh c'mon. . . It's not like that. . . Jeez! Stop it already!"

"Haha, you don't hafta be embarrassed!" Akane laughed.

"Seriously, stop it! Don't tease me!"

"Awww. . . Hiyoko is so adorable when she's embarrassed!" Mikan added.

"Shut the fuck up you pig-faced troll!" She snapped.

"Eeeeek! Why only me!?"

"It's very. . . like you guys to settle things like this." Chiaki commented.
