"Because there's no possible way he could've done it. . .!"
". . .Huh?" Hajime mumbled. "Wh-What do you mean. . .?"
"You said before that the killer probably came to the old building before Byakuya did in order to set the timers and plug in the irons and to plant the knife?" I confirmed. "While Nagito did come by, he was never out of my sight."
"So he was there?" Hajime implied.
"Well, yes. . .He asked if I needed any help cleaning up the banquet hall. I told him that I was fine, but after a little convincing, I let him stay." I recounted. "After we were done in the kitchen, I told him I was done and sent him away."
"Did you leave after that?" He asked.
"No." I answered. "I just told him I was done so that he'd leave. . . I felt guilty letting him help with something I volunteered to do."
"Stop. . ."
"After I was finished cleaning the office and bathroom, I put the cleaning supplies away and saw Byakuya at the entrance. . ." I continued. "Aside from Teruteru coming early to start the food, no one else came to the building prior to the party."
"Stop it. . .!" Nagito ordered.
I looked across the room to see a glint of anger in his eyes.
". . .I don't need you to cover for me." He smiled.
"I'm not covering for you. That's what happened." I insisted. What the hell is he doing. . .?
"Y/N, is there something you aren't telling us?" Hajime questioned.
"No, that's the whole truth. . ." I responded.
"And you're sure that you were with him the whole time?" Peko followed up. "He was never by himself. . .?"
"N-No. . .! Not for long enough to do. . .all of. . ." I trailed off as I put the pieces together.
"Y/N?"
". . .8 minutes." I muttered.
"Huh? Did she say 8 minutes?" Hiyoko repeated. "What the heck is that supposed to mean?"
"I-I only left him alone for. . .8 minutes." I clarified, feeling my stomach twist. "But, surely that wasn't enough time to set all that up. . . right?"
"You left him alone in the banquet hall. . . didn't you?" Hajime confirmed. "If so. . . he would've had a chance to hide the knife!"
I slowly nodded, confirming Hajime's theory.
"If you factor in the power cord and the time Y/N left you alone in the old building, you're the only one who could've done it!" He concluded.
"Could it be. . .? Did you try to give yourself cleaning duty so you could set it up?" Mahiru guessed.
"Now that you mention it. . . Nagito did prepare a drawing to pick who cleaned the old building. . ." Nekomaru noted.
"You rigged that drawing, didn't you?" Mahiru implied. "So that you would get picked for cleaning duty and have time to rig the blackout."
"When Y/N volunteered, you panicked and had to hope that she would let you help." Chiaki added. "I don't know if you're the killer or not, but. . . Regardless, it proves that you're suspicious, right?"
"If that's the case. . .That strange speech you made earlier. . ." Nekomaru trailed off. "That was part of your plan, too. . ."
"You got us to lower our guard and tried to hide the fact that you did it, didn't you, you motherfucker!?" Fuyuhiko cursed.
