Once Xavier had successfully snuck Wednesday passed his dorm dad and to his room, Xavier sat on his bed while Wednesday sat at his desk chair waiting for him to break the silence while Xavier was waiting for her. The two just stared at one another before Xavier just allowed himself to break the silence since it was clear she was not close to doing so.
"I just want to know.. why didn't you tell your parents?" Xavier asked.
"I didn't want to bore them." Wednesday responded, but Xavier was not believing her one bit.
"No, that's not it."
"Excuse me?" Was he calling her a.. liar?
"Wednesday, you always do and say what you're going to, when I had left your house you were so keen on telling them that we were broken up and I find out when you're literally twenty minutes from the school that you have not told them and were continuing to lie to them and than you proceeded to get mad at me for coming to greet them. I want to know why." Xavier practically pleaded.
"What-"
"Do not lie to me." Xavier told her sternly. Wednesday and Xavier looked at one another, both holding the stare and Wednesday didn't know in that moment how to speak because the intensity in Xavier's eyes was something she barely saw or thought him capable of, the same Xavier Thorpe who she had accused of being the Hyde last semester and now here they were.
"I don't know." Was Wednesday's reply.
"What?" He didn't like that answer.
"I had prepared to tell my parents, went into the greenhouse to tell them and than you literally text a photo of your paper cut to me telling me you were bleeding. I was entranced by the blood and never told them." Wednesday answered.
"Okay, but why didn't you tell them after." Xavier looked at her with a pointed look. Wednesday grabbed her stuffed bee and stood up.
"I shall be taking my leave." Xavier stood up and beat her to the door, blocking her. "Move Xavier."
"No."
"Move."
"No." Wednesday grabbed Xavier's arm but somehow (and it even dumbfounded Wednesday) he blocked her and held her against the door using his height to an advantage. "I just want the truth from you, for once."
"You.. Vex me."
"Oh I vex you? Why? Why do I vex you?" Xavier wanted to know why, he needed too.
"Because I was content and comfortable with who I was before I met you, before I came here. I wanted to torture, become a writer in horror/mystery genre, didn't want to become my mother of all people and since coming here I've found myself becoming her slowly."
"What does any of that have to do with me? Because we're friends? You didn't tell them because we're friends?" Xavier was so damn confused with Wednesday.
"No because I don't think of you as a friend." With that Wednesday pushed him away from her when she saw his face drop. He looked pained and her stomach fluttered at the sight and it was disgusting.
"Wow, thanks for confirming that." Xavier ran a hand through his long hair and turned away from her to go over to the chair she had once occupied.
"Xavier-"
"No Wednesday, I was an idiot for thinking that we were actually friends-"
"You're not listening to me, I don't think of you as a friend-"
"I got that, can you stop saying it for fucks sake." Xavier exclaimed.
"Can you let me finish?" Wednesday was getting annoyed, more annoyed than usual.
"Oh great, there's more." He muttered.
"I-I.." Wednesday was taken back, never did she think this conversation would see the light of day but here it was, something she didn't want or need to have in her mind but unfortunately since that day when she didn't tell her parents, Wednesday knew why she felt that way and it wasn't until she saw Xavier again did it hit her and she was disgusted for it.. Seeing him upset because she practically crushed his heart and soul should have brought her pleasure and satisfactory but that is not what she was given, instead she felt her stomach twisting and turning and not in a good way.. never had she felt like that before. Until him. Taking a deep inhale before exhaling she finally got the words out. "I have stronger feelings for you, more than friendship."
Xavier's head turned to her and looked her dead in the eye as she was looking at him with the same intensity as well. "W-what?" Was this really happening right now? Was she playing a cruel and sick joke?
"You heard me, I will not repeat myself." Wednesday clarified. Xavier broke out into a grin as he stood up and Wednesday backed up a bit.
"Sorry."
"Just because I have admitted that to you, doesn't mean I am ready for.. that."
"I understand, we can take things slow." Xavier reassured her, Wednesday looked at him and slowly nodded.
"Fine."
"Good." Xavier grinned once more that night and Wednesday turned to leave and this time Xavier let her, feeling a victory as Wednesday left his room.
