Carla's POV
I was sprawled out in the backseat of Mom's car while she was driving and Cynthia was sitting in the passenger seat, listening to music. I sighed and closed my eyes trying to get myself to fall asleep before we got to my grandparents' house. I rolled over so that I was facing the back of Mom's seat and opened my eyes to see Cynthia kiss the back of her hand. I smiled and shut my eyes again. They have always been like this and I knew that they were dating, but none of us actually talked about it.
Honestly, I wished they would just admit they were together, they were happy together and that was all that really mattered. I moved and groaned, not able to get comfortable enough to fall asleep, "Baby, are you alright," Mom asked, as Cynthia glanced back at me, I shrugged.
"I can't fall asleep and it's starting to piss me off," I answered, Mom snorted as Cynthia shook her head at me.
"How come you didn't sleep last night," Cynthia asked, I shook my head.
"I was up writing all night," I answered, she nodded.
"Of course."
Mom shook her head, "Well, you can take a nap once we get there, but there is a small surprise," she said, I raised an eyebrow.
"I still hate surprises," I said, Cynthia rolled her eyes.
"Not this one," Mom said, I let out a breath. "Kas is coming to Thanksgiving," she said, I shot up in my seat, grabbing their seats.
"Kas is coming," I exclaimed, Mom laughed as Cynthia nodded.
"Yes, she is along with a friend that none of us have met," she told me, I nodded.
"Cool," I said, grinning, they shook their heads at me.
"Try going back to sleep," Mom told me, I nodded and laid back down.

Someone started shaking me as I heard something tapping, "What," I groaned, covering my face, I heard someone let out a breath.
"Carls, we just got here, you need to wake up," Cynthia said, I looked up at her.
"What's that tapping?"
She shrugged and pointed to the window above me, I looked at it to see a girl with blonde hair and glasses. I grinned, opening the door, "Kas," I exclaimed, she laughed and shook her head, hugging me and I returned it.
"Carla," she answered, we pulled back and she shook her head. "You didn't sleep last night, did ya," she asked, I rolled my eyes and climbed out of the car.
"Shut up," I told her, stretching and covering a yawn.
"C'mon, we need to go inside," she told me, I shook my head as we headed towards the house. "So, what's new," she asked, as we walked inside, I shrugged and shook my head.
I immediately thought of Derek, "Nothing much," I lied, walking into the living room to see Grandpa sitting in the living room talking to a guy that looked to be my age.
"Carla," Grandpa exclaimed, I grinned at him.
"Hiya," I said, sitting on the couch next to who I'm assuming is Kas' friend.
"You didn't sleep, did you," he said, I shrugged, leaning back.
"I had more important things to do over sleep," I said, and he gave me a look, shaking his head at me. "I had writing to do."
The guy snorted and looked at Kas, "That sounds familiar," he said, crossing his arms, she glared at him.
"Shut up, Leo," she told him, he smirked and I snorted, shaking my head. "I get plenty of sleep," she said, he scoffed.
