Derek's POV

Carla and I signed out in the office and Alexa didn't exactly seem happy that we were leaving. We walked out to Carla's truck and threw our bags in the tailgate, "Keys," I asked, she shook her head, crossing her arms.

"How are you coming back to school," she asked, I shrugged.

"I can walk back just fine, Princess," I told her, and she shook her head again.

"You aren't walking back from my house, Ridley," she told me, I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever, let's go," I said, she let out a breath and got in the passenger seat while I got in the driver seat. I started up her truck and she turned up her radio a little more than it already was as I pulled out of the school parking lot.

Carla leaned back in her seat and leaned her head against the door as her eyes closed, "You can go to sleep," I told her, her eyes flickered to me as she nodded.

Soon enough she was asleep and I just drove around for almost twenty minutes until I finally stopped at her house. I looked at her, not wanting to wake her up as I turned off her truck, I let out a breath as I got out and went to the tailgate. I grabbed her bag, slipping it on before going to the passenger door, I opened it and saw that she was still asleep.

I unbuckled her seat belt and picked her up in my arms, I walked to the front door and tried to open it. To my luck, it was unlocked and I walked inside, making sure she didn't hit anything. I walked into the living room and went to the couch, slowly laying her down, hoping that she wouldn't wake up. I found a blanket on the back of the recliner and covered her up, before setting her bag on the coffee table with her keys beside it.

I left her house, shutting the door behind me and grabbed my bag out of the tailgate before starting to walk back to school.

I walked into Mrs. Stone's class right before the bell rang for the start of class, she looked at me, "Where's Ms. Smith," she asked, I shook my head.

"She wasn't feeling good, so I drove her home and came back," I answered, Mrs. Stone nodded as I took my seat next to Charlie and behind Lukas.

"Alright, class, to get started today, pull out your books and read for a bit then I'll get you started on your next project," she told us, I grabbed my book out of my bag as Lukas groaned.

"I don't want to read," he muttered, I rolled my eyes as I opened my book and started to read.

"Okay, so the next assignment that you all have is pairing up and writing a short story that is at least ten pages," Mrs. Stone announced to the class, someone raised their hand. "Yes, Hunter," she asked, he dropped his hand.

"Do we get to pick our partners," he asked, and she shook her head.

"I don't want to know how your stories would end up if I let you pick partners," she answered, I snorted as she held up a piece of paper. "No, I've already picked your partners," she said, looking at the paper. She started listing off partners and I zoned out just listening for my name.

"Charlie and Rylee, and finally Derek and Carla," Mrs. Stone finished, I looked up at her, surprised as Charlie grinned.

"Yes, a reason to talk to Rylee," he muttered, I rolled my eyes.

"You could've just talked to her, you know," I told him, and he glared at me.

"Shut the fuck up."

"Alright, use the rest of your time with your partner coming up with ideas," she said, I let out a breath as I grabbed my computer trying to think of story ideas without Carla's help. Which is a horrible idea, but whatever.

I sat down at my normal table at lunch to find that Jacob and Issac were already there while Lukas was in the lunch line and Charlie was somewhere. "So, you drove Carla Smith home," Jacob asked me, I nodded.

"Yeah, so?"

"Why'd you take her side this morning," he asked, as Issac rolled his eyes and Lukas sat down already eating his lunch.

"Cause she can kick your ass," I answered, he rolled his eyes at me as Charlie came over with his hair in a mess and sat down beside me.

"Whoa, what have you been doing," Lukas asked, Charlie was grinning and shrugged.

"Just talking to Rylee," he answered, I snorted as Issac shook his head.

"Seems like a little more than talking," he said, Charlie shook his head.

"Shut up," he answered, I snorted.

"So does Charlie have a girlfriend," I asked, raising an eyebrow, he looked at me and shrugged.

"We have a date tonight, not officially boyfriend/girlfriend yet," he answered, I nodded.

"Have fun."

He nodded, before looking at me, "Is there someone that you'd want to ask out," he asked, I shrugged.

"No, there's not," I answered, Lukas raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure," he asked, I nodded.

"Yeah, why do you ask," I said, he tilted his head.

"Cause, I know you have a crush on someone, you can tell," he answered, the rest of the guys nodded.

"I don't have a crush on anyone," I answered, that was a lie, and they were all right. I did have a crush on Carla, but I wouldn't ask her out because I knew that she wouldn't want to be in a relationship.

"How about we play a game," Lukas said, I let out a breath as I took a bite. "We get to guess who you like and you tell us yes or no," he said, and I rubbed my forehead.

"Whatever."

Charlie let out a breath, looking at me, "Tanya," he asked, I rolled my eyes.

"When have I ever actually talked to her," I asked, Lukas snorted as Issac shook his head, looking at me.

"Carla Smith," he said, I looked at him and shook my head.

"Next," I answered, Charlie shook his head.

"Liar," he said, I rolled my eyes.

"Fine, don't figure out who I like," I said, shrugging and taking another bite of food.

Lukas crossed his arms, "Prove that it's not Carla," he told me, I looked at him.

"Seriously? How am I supposed to do that," I asked, they shrugged.

"Figure it out," Lukas answered, I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever," I said, letting out a breath and taking another bite as Issac raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, then, can I ask her out," he asked, everybody looked at him in shock.

"You like Carla," Jacob asked, Issac shrugged.

"Do what you want," I told him, kicking myself, I knew that Issac didn't like Carla, he was doing it to see what I would do in response. I finished eating and let out a breath, "I'm heading home," I said, getting up and leaving the cafeteria.
