Carla's POV

Six Months Later

I waited until I heard the door shut before moving the phone out from under my leg. It took me like eight times, but I finally managed to dial Derek's number.

I let out a breath, listening to the phone ring, and watched the stairs. "Hello," Derek asked, I let out a sigh of relief as tears welled up in my eyes.

"Charming," I said, he started choking on air. "S-start tracing the call," I said, he coughed.

"Yeah, working on it, Princess," he told me, I relaxed against the wall and watched the stairs.

"Baby," Mom asked, I froze and gulped.

"Mom," I asked, I could hear someone sniffing and assumed it was her.

"I almost got it, Princess," Derek said, I nodded, then I heard footsteps going to the door.

"Shit, I gotta go," I said, bending forward again.

"No, Carla, just a few more seconds," Cynthia said, I shook my head and looked back at the stairs.

"He's coming back, I need to go."

"I need one more second," Derek said, I heard the desperation in his voice and I'm sure they heard mine.

"I'm sorry," I said, ending the call and getting out of it, I kicked the phone away from me. The door opened and I moved to sit how I was before as he came down the stairs. He was holding his nose from me trying to break it, but I don't think that worked like I wanted.

"Where's my phone," he muttered, looking around, he didn't acknowledge that I was there. He saw it a few feet from me and picked it up, "No one's coming," he said, I looked down at the floor. There is a chance as long as Derek managed to do it before I hung up.

Grayson was standing in front of me with a knife in hand and I knew that this was probably it, "Like I told you, no one needs you," he told me, that was when there was banging on the door. He groaned as they knocked again, he pointed at me with the knife, "You make a sound, you're dead."

He walked upstairs and I dropped my head against the wall, tears falling down my cheeks cause I couldn't hold them back anymore. "No, you can't do this," he yelled, I froze and my breathing started to shallow out.

The basement door opened and I pushed my body as close to the wall as I could get, "Carla," someone asked, I didn't recognize the voice as a guy came down the stairs, wearing a police uniform. My tears started falling faster as he came over to me, "You're Carla, right," he asked, I nodded as he knelt in front of me. "I'm Devin, your moms called us, told us where you were," he said, smiling at me, I sniffed.

"Do you wanna talk," he asked, I shook my head as he nodded. "That's alright," he said, moving to look at the cuffs around my wrists. "I'm gonna guess that you don't know where the keys are."

I shook my head and shut my eyes, "Hey, it's alright, I can pick locks," he said, I swallowed as he started messing with it. "So, I heard your boyfriend was the one that managed to track you down," he said, my lips tilted up slightly as he glanced at me. "He some tech genius," Devin asked, I shrugged and nodded.

"Hey, her family's outside waiting," we heard from his radio, I swallowed as Devin gave me another smile.

"One more second and I'll get you out to them," he told me, I nodded as he turned back to the cuffs.

A few seconds later, I felt them fall off my wrists and I looked at my hands, rubbing my wrists. He got up and grabbed his radio, "Working on bringing her out now," he said, I sniffed as he looked down at me.
