Derek's POV
Carla glanced at me for probably the tenth time and I leaned my head back, eyes flickering to her, "What's up, Princess," I asked, she shook her head.
"You don't need to worry all the time," she told me, I sighed.
"I know." The problem is that I am worried about her, from everything that happened today to how normal it is for her knuckles to be bruised like they were right now. She didn't even notice that they were bruised or maybe she forgot about it, I let out a breath. I don't have a whole lot of room to talk about the bruises, but that's besides the point right now.
Carla shook her head, "You're still worrying about me, Charming," I smiled at her and shook my head.
"You worry bout those you love, right," I asked, she snorted and nodded slightly. "Then I can worry about you all I want, Princess," I answered, she rolled her eyes as I laughed a little.
"Then in that case, I have every right to worry about you all I want," she told me, I scrunched up my nose at her and shook my head.
"I don't need anyone worrying about me," I told her, she cocked an eyebrow at me.
"And neither do I, but here we are."
I sighed, "Okay, okay, fair point," I agreed, she laughed and I grabbed one of her hands. "I love you, Princess," I told her, kissing the back of her hand, she smiled.
"Love you too, Charming," she told me, leaning her head back on the head rest and petting Dakota.
I pulled up to Carla's house, Carla opened her door and Dakota immediately bolted, "Fuck, Dakota," she called, jumping out and chasing her to the backyard.
I got out, laughing as Tyler climbed out of the tailgate now halfway dry, looking at me, "I didn't think you two would be all lovey and stuff," he said, I looked at him.
"What?"
"You guys just always just show that you're dating," he said, I nodded. "I don't know, I guess I didn't think you guys would have a relationship like that."
I shrugged, "We've both been through shit that makes it feel like no one cares so we won't hide it from each other. I'm not gonna lie, it honestly helps a lot in situations like this. If we're at school then we don't show it as much but we still make sure we're good," I said, smiling as we heard Carla squeal and start laughing. I let out a breath, "And Dakota just tackled her."
Tyler nodded, "How often do you guys feel like that?"
I shrugged, "I feel like that a lot more than I'd like to admit, she's gotten so used to that she's figured out how to brush it off." I sighed, "But I know it happens often enough so we don't really care if someone wants to judge us for that."
Tyler nodded, "How often do you guys get into fights," he asked, I shrugged.
"Too many to count," Carla answered, coming back over to us, I shook my head and smiled at her.
"You look a little muddy."
"Shut up," she laughed, as we went inside and Hannah and Cynthia met us in the entryway.
"Are you okay," Hannah asked, they both had their gazes locked on her.
She nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine, the boys had me covered," she answered, glancing at Tyler and I, I smiled at her. Carla's eyes lit up, "But, I need to get Derek's present from my room since he gave me mine already," she said, before slipping past Hannah and Cynthia.
Hannah and Cynthia looked at Tyler and I, "How bad," Hannah asked, as Cynthia crossed her arms.
I shrugged, "She ran for a bit after we tried telling her he's an idi-" Carla's scream cut me off and I bolted for the stairs. I heard everyone following behind me as I got to her room seeing that it was trashed while Carla sat on the floor. I knelt in front of her, her back was pressed into the wall and she was shaking, "Princess," I asked, she shook her head as I noticed a piece of paper crumpled in her hand.
