Derek's POV

I put my bookmark in the book and let out a breath, I had a chapter left of the book and I was bored. I let out a breath before I grabbed my phone.

Me: I'm bored.

Carla: Did you finish reading the book yet?

I let out a breath, shaking my head, I knew that would be the text I got back.

Me: No, got one more chapter tho.

She was going to tell me to hurry up and finish reading the book, I knew that was gonna be her answer.

Me: Hey, btw, Annabeth didn't die, asshole.

Carla: Lol, yea, Ik.

Me: You suck.

Carla: I'm bored too.

I paused seeing that text, I figured I was going to be told to hurry up and finish reading the book.

Me: Well, if I hurry up n finish the last chapter, I'll have to come over to get the 3rd book.

Carla: R you really that bored?

Me: Yes.

Carla: Sure, finish that chapter n I'll let you borrow the next book.

Me: K, give me a bit.

I put my phone down and opened that book back up, reading a page before I heard my phone go off again.

Carla: R you done yet?

I rolled my eyes, letting out a breath, she was bored enough just to try to annoy me.

Me: I'm going to ignore you.

Carla: So, since you answered, r you done yet?

I shook my head and put my phone back down, starting to read again.

I knocked on Carla's front door with her book in hand, she opened the door and I saw that she was in her Batman hoodie and short shorts. "Oh, you finally finished it," she asked, I rolled my eyes.

"It didn't even take me ten minutes, Princess," I answered, she rolled her eyes as she started coughing, covering her mouth with her hand.

She cleared her throat after a minute, letting out a breath, "The third book is on the coffee table," she told me, heading inside and leaving the door open for me.

I nodded and followed behind her, "Sweet," I answered, as she fell onto the couch and closed her eyes as I looked at the book on the coffee table. "Have you ate yet," I asked, she shrugged and covered her eyes with her arm.

"Some crackers," she mumbled, I could tell that she was about to fall back asleep already and I must've woken her up from a nap when I texted her.

"Want me to get you something to eat," I asked, and she shook her head.

"No, cause then I'll throw up again," she answered, I frowned and picked up the book.

"What happens in this one," I asked, looking at it, Carla shrugged.

"Annabeth gets kidnapped and Percy loses his shit," she answered, and I raised an eyebrow.

"You aren't trying to trick me again are you," I asked, she shook her head.

"No, I'm serious this time and it's not that big of spoilers cause it happens within the first few chapters," she said, I nodded.

"Alright," I answered, sitting on the recliner and opening the book.

"Aren't you gonna go home," she asked, I shrugged and shook my head.

"I will once you fall asleep," I answered, she nodded as I started reading the next book in the series.

I took a bite of my peanut butter and jelly sandwich as the front door opened, I had gone back to my house after Carla fell back asleep. Mom came in and looked at me, scoffing slightly, I let out a breath, "Hi, Mom," I said, I could already tell that it was one of those days where she was mad at me for no reason.

She rolled her eyes as she went to the fridge, ignoring me, I ducked my head slightly and kept eating. "Why can't you be like your sister," she muttered, I froze, swallowing.

"I'm going to bed," I told her, taking the last bite of my sandwich.

"Yep, just go hide up in your room like you always do," she said, I gulped and walked out of the kitchen, heading upstairs.

I shut my bedroom door and fell onto my bed, "Why does she hate me," I asked myself, shaking my head and burying my face in my pillow.

I thought of texting Carla, but she was probably still sleeping and I didn't want to wake her up with how sick she is. Maybe I can text the guys, I shook my head, "Forget it," I muttered, closing my eyes. "Just get some sleep and it'll be better when you wake up," I told myself, plugging my phone into my charger then closing my eyes.
