Carla's POV
Hey, Baby, Cynthia and I have to work for a bit today. Hopefully, we'll be off by noon, but you can go see if you can hangout with any of your friends. Sorry we aren't there right now. Love you!
I let out a breath and shook my head at my mother's note. I didn't care if they weren't here as long as any calls they got put on weren't dangerous, I could survive Christmas alone.
Sorry, kid, don't burn down that house and call Derek over to hang out. We'll be back as soon as we can and we'll find something to do. Love ya!
I smiled after reading Cynthia's part of the note, I grabbed my phone and pulled up the group chat between the three of us.
Me: Love u guys too.
Mom: Have fun.
Cynthia: Don't do anything to get in trouble.
Me: Ik, Ik.
I stuck my phone in my pocket and grabbed a box of cereal from the counter, going out to the couch. I sat down with my back against the arm and grabbed my phone again, shaking my head before texting the guys and Rylee a merry Christmas.
I didn't get any answers and I didn't expect to when it was only nine in the morning. I doubted any of them were actually gonna be awake right now. I started eating the cereal straight from the box, yawning, I wonder if Derek managed to fall back asleep after leaving.
I shrugged as the doorbell rang, I let out a breath and went over to the door. I looked through the peephole and froze, my stomach clenched and I swallowed as I backed away from the door. "No," I whispered, shaking my head and letting out a shaky breath.
"Open the door," I hated that damn voice.
I ran to the back door and opened it, "Dakota," I said, she ran to me, whimpering, "you're gonna be a good girl, aren't ya," I asked, she nudged my leg with her head. That was when they pounded on the front door and I winced, biting my lip, "C'mon," I whispered, grabbing her collar to keep her beside me.
I walked back to the front door, "Open the damn door," I heard him call again, I took a deep breath.
"Why should I," I called back, Dakota started growling as I forced my breathing to go back to normal. It didn't work out great.
"Then I'll come in the back," he warned, I swallowed hard and unlocked the door, slowly opening it. There stood my father and my twin brother, Tyler was frowning while our father glared as Dakota tried attacking both of them.
I pulled on her collar to keep her at my side, "What," I asked, I was trying to relax, but it wasn't working.
"Aren't you gonna let your father in," he asked, I glared at him.
"Fine."
I moved out of the way so they could come inside, Tyler came straight to me, trying to give me a hug. I barely stopped Dakota from pouncing, "Carla, I'm sorry," he said, I shook my head, shutting the front door.
"Just, leave me alone," I whispered, before going upstairs with Dakota beside me. I walked into my room, shutting the door behind me and locking it before letting go of Dakota's collar.
I sat against the door and grabbed my phone, calling Derek, "Miss me already, Princess?"
I let out a shaky breath as a tear fell down my cheek, "I-I need you," I said, my voice shook and I swallowed as Dakota laid down beside me with her head on my lap.
