"I was just surprised. Don't think too much about it.

-Alden...

-It was nothing!"

Tyon didn't dare ask more and Alden ran away. Once he left, Tyon looked at his hands for a second thinking there was blood on them. He had never felt dirtier in his entire life and didn't know why his heart felt so cramped. He had seen that look on children before. Young children to whom something had happened and therefore developed that reflex. Could it be? Tyon felt his blood boil just thinking about it. Who did this to him? He wanted to find them and rip their throats out. He immediately sent men to investigate about Alden's past.

Alden on the other hand had been very ashamed about his reaction and did his best to do as if nothing had happened. He took Amauri to the zoo as promised and they had an amazing time. Amauri was so happy that he told Alden this was the best day of his life. When he went back, he told Janyn about all the animals he saw in detail and seeing him all ecstatic made Alden forget about last days events. However every time he saw Tyon he would be reminded of it and he would feel his skin crawl.

He hated seeming vulnerable and didn't want Tyon to think too much about it. He did his best to do as usual but he couldn't stop thinking about it. What could he do to make him forget about it? Should he say something? But what? He would be suspicious if he brought it up again. Maybe it was best to just ignore it.

While Alden thought about what to do, Tyon finally got a grasp of the situation. Tyon discovered that Alden lived alone in a small apartment in the city. He hadn't seen his family for years and his so-called father was indeed a knight that lived with his wife and other children in a huge mansion. Seeing that Alden ran away, things were getting clearer and that didn't help Tyon's mood get better. Tyon discovered that Alden's family was quite well-off and that he had two older brothers as well as an older sister. His sister married her husband a few days before Alden left the house and was now pregnant with her second child. She lived quite far away but would come to visit Alden once a year. As for his brothers, they still lived at home with their parents.

Unfortunately, this was all Tyon discovered. Being little information, it was still way more than what he knew before and he hated himself for not investigating sooner. If he had seen Alden's apartment he would have known that something was wrong. Why didn't he do anything? Having that information wasn't enough. He wanted to know everything about Alden but he knew that he wouldn't be so happy to tell him about it himself. Who could he ask? He couldn't go to his family feeling that he would murder them on the spot. Therefore Tyon made a list of Alden's friends and colleagues before going to them one after the other. He really thought he was doing something good because it was in Alden's best interest.

He did all of this instead of work and didn't even seem to notice. Usually Tyon would spend all his free time in front of his desk and no one could get him to stand up for a second. But ever since Alden came around, the amount of time he spent working became less and less. His evitiency was still unchanged but people couldn't miss the difference in his mood.

Tyon didn't learn a lot from the people he met. It seemed that despite being open and friendly, Alden didn't confide in anyone and his friends didn't even know where he worked. At his workplace people didn't know what kind of life he led either but everyone agreed that Alden was nice and warm.

At the beginning Alden didn't realize what Tyon had been up to because he was too busy taking Amauri everywhere around town. However one day as they were visiting the market, Tyon saw one of his friends with Tyon. He had a strange feeling but didn't want to think too much about it. However, speaking with her later one, Alden discovered that Tyon had been asking questions about him. And after a little digging he was surprised to see that Tyon had gone to everyone he knew. This pissed him off. What was Tyon doing? Why was he asking questions about his life? What was he planning?

Alden almost ran to Tyon's study and pushed the door in. Tyon was really happy when he heard Alden had come but immediately froze seeing his eyes. He felt a shutter pass through him knowing that he did something bad again without knowing exactly what. He was ready to apologize already but Alden didn't give him time.

"What are you planning?"

Tyon blinked a few times :

"I don't know what you are talking about.

-Tell me, why are you asking people about me?"

Tyon froze:

"I...

-What? Did you really think my friends wouldn't tell me? At least give them money, I don't know. You should be smarter than that."

He hadn't really thought about the concequencies and felt really dumb. Usually Tyon only had to kill people, not worry about them being too chatty. He didn't even think about what would happen when Alden would find out. But what could he say now? He didn't want to lie to him but felt really bad that he messed up so soon after their fight.

"I wanted to know more about you.

-And you didn't think: oh I live in the same house as him and see him at every meal. Why not ask directly?"

Tyon didn't really think about it. Because he knew Alden hated him and he knew he wouldn't like talking to him. He didn't want to snoop around and just wanted to help.

"You wouldn't have answered.

-Then that's because you shouldn't know! Do you hear yourself? If I don't want to tell you something, why would you go and ask someone else?"

Tyon pursed his lips. He expressed himself wrong but couldn't deny that he was in the wrong either. Alden was right, once again.

"I'm sorry.

-Argh. Again with that. You can't seem to stop apologizing.

-I wanted to know more about your situation. About why you left your parents house."

Alden opened wide eyes and for some reason Tyon couldn't stop talking. He knew he was in the wrong but he just couldn't seem to stop anymore:

"I wanted to know why you lived alone in a small apartment after your sister got married and why you flinched back then."

Alden was so shocked that he started backing away. Tyon panicked and really wanted to grab Alden to help him stand but he pushed his hand away:

"How do you know that?

-I...

-You did a background check on me?

-I... Yes...

-What is wrong with you? That is none of your business!

-But you seemed scared...

-I wasn't! Stop saying that! I am not scared of you! I didn't flinch! Oh my God, leave me alone!"

Alden couldn't take it and ran away. Tyon felt his throat tighten as he saw Alden leave in a hurry. He followed him, his eyes getting blurry and when they arrived to Alden's room, Tyon saw the young man pack her things in silence.

"What are you doing?

-I'm leaving."

Tyon couldn't breathe properly. He couldn't leave. He needed him. He wanted him. He wanted nothing but him. It was the first time in his life that he wanted someone and it was the first time in his life that he had a family even if it was a false one that he imposed on Alden. He had to think of a way. Anything. he would do anything.

"What about Amauri?

-He could come with me or stay here. As he wishes. I don't think he would be happy being ignored all day by his Dada here so I could take him with me. I'll bring him here every morning for breakfast and every evening for dinner. You'll see him just the same amount as before and won't even notice the difference.

-Why can't you stay here?

-Everything is great here. I can buy whatever I want and I love talking with Earl and Janyn and even the others. Your garden is gorgeous and your library is huge. But the only problem here is you."

He turned around and his eyes were nothing but distant.

"I can't live near you and feel suffocated every time I look your way. I can't stay here anymore."
