Chapter 31

At the circus, Alden caught something and started having a fever in the middle of the night. He woke up while still cuddling Amauri and Tyon as usual and got up to go drink some water in the bathroom. He didn't like asking for help and he didn't like taking medication. Usually when he was sick he would just lie down and wait for it to pass but as soon as he got up, Tyon woke up and waited for Alden to come back. However, when even after 10 minutes Alden didn't come back, Tyon started worrying. He waited a bit more but Alden still not coming back, he got up and knocked on the door:

"Alden? Are you okay?"

Alden didn't answer really dizzy. He was holding the wooden table, having put water on his face. He didn't have the strength to move and just stood there with his eyes closed and trying not to pass out. He was okay. Everything was going to be fine and he just needed a second. But he wasn't fine and not hearing his answer, Tyon opened the door that Alden forgot to lock. Seeing Alden struggling to stay standing, Tyon came closer and gently touched Alden's shoulder.

"Alden?"

Alden jumped when he felt this and opened feverish eyes. Seeing him in this state, Tyon panicked and felt his forehead:

"You are burning up."

He immediately lifted Alden and brought him back to the bed putting him down softly.

"I'll go get the doctor."

But Alden immediately grabbed Tyon's arm:

"Don't. I'm fine."

Tyon signed:

"You are not.

-I am. Don't wake Amauri."

Tyon softened his voice and felt Alden's forehead again.

"You have a fever. You need to see a doctor.

-I don't want to...

-For once, I won't listen to you."

Hearing this, Alden started crying. Seeing him, Tyon panicked again and softly hugged Alden to him.

"It's okay. Everything is fine.

-No... I don't want a doctor..."

Tyon kissed his forehead before caressing his back.

"You are sick, Alden. I will take care of you and everything will be fine. Go back to sleep, I am here."

While he was holding a crying Alden, Amauri woke up and panicked seeing his mommy in this state:

"Mommy? What happened to mommy?

-I am fine."

Tyon shook his head and told Amauri to run for the doctor immediately, which he did. The doctor as well as Earl, Janyn and three other servants rushed to the room. Tyon didn't want to let go of Alden for a second, keeping him in his arms even while the doctor was checking him. Alden repeated again and again that he was fine and even pushed the doctor away not wanting to be checked:

"I just need to sleep. I am fine. Leave me."

Tyon rubbed Alden's back before turning to the doctor and telling him to check Alden no matter what he was saying. Alden was really dizzy and couldn't continue fighting, slowly falling back to sleep. Earl wanted to take Amauri away but he didn't budge until the doctor finished his check up. Alden had a high fever and they had to get it down otherwise it could be dangerous. Tyon immediately went to the bathroom and the next second servants brought cold water that they poured into the bathtub. They wanted to be the ones to wash Alden but Tyon didn't let anyone touch him and sat in the bathtub with Alden still dressed pressed against his torso. The servants told Tyon to get out not to get a cold but Tyon told everyone to leave and they did.

Alden didn't like the cold water and started whimpering in Tyon's arms. This woke him up a bit and he tried getting up but Tyon didn't let him.

"I don't like it."

Tyon caressed his forehead softly:

"I know. I am sorry.

-I am cold."

He started crying again and Tyon thought his heart had been pulled out. He hated seeing him like this:

"It will be okay soon.

-No... I don't want to..."

He kissed his forehead, hugging Alden even closer. They stayed in the bathtub for a long time and Alden finally started to cool down. He still had a fever but wasn't burning up and stopped crying. Tyon immediately got out of the tub and grabbed a towel as well as dry clothes. He dried and dressed a sleeping Alden and brought him back to his bed before covering him. Everyone was still waiting in the room and Tyon had to leave Alden for a second to get changed too. He didn't want to wet Alden again after just drying him and therefore changed as well.

Once dry, Tyon immediately laid down next to Alden and hugged him close. Amauri did the same and both looked after Alden for the whole night hoping his fever would subside. After five hours, Alden got better and the doctor said he just needed rest and everything would be fine. The little family as well as the whole mansion got relieved and people left to leave the family alone.

Alden was still sick but he didn't have a fever anymore and started to wake up slowly. When he opened his eyes he felt weird and needed a few seconds to remember what had happened. Soon after waking up, he tried getting up but two sets of arms prevented him from doing so.

"Mommy! How do you feel?

-You shouldn't get up."

Alden had a hard time swallowing and started coughing. Tyon immediately helped him sit up and Amauri handed him a glass of water. Tyon helped Alden drink and he slowly calmed down.

"I am fine..."

Tyon rolled his eyes.

"You are not.

-Mommy... You were really sick. You have to rest now.

-I am okay, Darling."

He wanted to move but the boys were really stubborn. Tyon strengthened his hold around Alden and forced him to lie back. Alden didn't like this and started frowning:

"Are you using force against me? Who do you think you are?"

Tyon bent really close to Alden's face:

"I am your fiance and I am worried about you."

Alden pushed him away irritated:

"You don't have to worry. I am fine."

But hearing Amauri cry, Alden stopped.

"Mommy... You weren't waking up... I got really scared."

Alden finally remembered everything and felt a bit ashamed. He rubbed Amauri's hair and smiled:

"I am sorry baby. Everything is fine now. I will rest."

Amauri finally calmed down and hugged his mommy. Alden however tried pushing Amauri away:

"You shouldn't be here. I don't want you to catch it too.

-But...

-No, but. Who let you sleep here? You should go to the doctor right away. Take some vitamins too. You shouldn't get sick.

-Mommy...

-I won't move. I promise."

Amauri grimaced but couldn't say no and left.
