ALESSIO
I got home and closed the door shut when Avelina stood in front of me, standing next to the kitchen wearing grey clothes and no shoes on her feet. She was barefoot, had her hair open since they were short and had her hands intertwined. One look at her and I felt a pang in my chest after all those conversations and meetings with my stupid people. I wish I hadn't cut her hair atleast.
She was twisting her hands when I snarled at her, not wanting my voice to come out harsher, "What are you doing here?"
Her head snapped up when she said in a low voice, the voice I had been using since I held the dead body of my wife in my arms. A voice that lacked emotion.
"Your dinner is made."
I casually threw my bag of laptop on the sofa and strolled past her. Her petite body shivered but I couldn't care less right now. I was hungry. I sat on the chair in the dining room when she hurried inside carrying my food on a tray and placed it in front of me. She had no makeup on and was looking ridiculous when I had to stop this. She looked fucking depressing this way.
She was about to move away when I called out to her, "Wear your fucking shoes next time, I didn't label you as a maid yet for you act even lower than the maids."
She whispered a low yes and left the room.

I was in my office going over the last minute checks before going to bed when Cassio casually strolled in, "I need to talk."
"The gynecologist will arrive tomorrow."
There was silence when all I heard was a scream for me to look up as quickly as I broke necks. Cassio ran towards me and slammed into my chest, hugging me when I had no idea what the squealing was about.
"OhmyGodOhmyGodOhmyGodddddddddd."
?
I pushed him away when he straightened up, "You......... lucky bastard ahhahahahahahah."
I squinted my brows when he rushed out of the office. What the hell was this?
I continued doing my work when after a few minutes, the door was suddenly barged off of its hinges and Cassio ran in holding Avelina's hands. My heart skipped a beat seeing her here when he closed the door shut, dragged Avelina closer and hugged her. I stood up from my seat, not liking the close proximity when Avelina awkwardly patted his back and looked at me, a quizzical look on her face.
I stared back at her with no emotion on my face, studying her when she averted her gaze there and then. She was wearing her sleeping gown, had her hair open in a wavy mess, was wearing no jewellery other than the locket her mother had gifted her and was looking quizically with those beautiful, fair features that she had. It had been about roughly three months to our wedding and with her going completely silent, less rebellious and with Cassio and my father's words....I was afraid I was falling for something that was delicate enough to ruin lives.
Cassio held her tightly when anger burned my inner cells seeing him hugging her. Yes, I did not love her but stay the fuck away.
I growled at him, "Cassio. Leave her."
He left her embrace and....removed a tear? Why the fuck was this man crying?
I squinted my brows and went to him when I stood next to Avelina, my hands in my pockets and my face openly showing confusion, "Are you crying?"
"Obviously, I am-" he chuckled and cried more when this confused me more. He swayed on his feet, about to drop right into Avelina when subconsciously, without even thinking, I reached out an arm to pull her back but before I could touch her, Avelina moved an inch closer to me and away from him. She moved an inch closer to me. Me.
