ALESSIO
I looked anywhere but at Avelina when she finally whispered, "Hi."
My eyes snapped towards her startled until I looked into them, her soul as clear as glass, as soft as a feather. Vulnerable and breakable. Just with a single touch.
I nodded and rasped out, turning my gaze away, "Hey, you." What the fuck was up with my voice? I didn't drink before coming here.
She sat forward, "You came so late."
I finally held her gaze when I cleared my throat, "I was actually in the city the next day I called Cass."
Her eyebrows knitted together, "Why didn't you come then?"
I swallowed all of my rational answers and went with a lie, "Had some business to take care of."
"Oh."
Her lips fell silent when my gaze locked there. Red. Fucking red. So fucking luscious that I wanted to hold the side of her head with one hand as I pulled her closer to me by the waist with the other and just lay my lips on top of hers. To feel it cushion mine and to feel them move against mine. I looked at Avelina to see her gazing at the table when I noticed the silver glitter on her cheekbones making her stand more out. She looked radiant.
I cleared my throat when her eyes snapped towards mine, "You look beautiful. Just wanted to let you know." I would kill Cassio for leaving me here knowing I sucked at this sort of stuff.
Her cheeks turned into the darkest shade of pink that I had ever seen when she blushed and whispered, keeping her head low, "Thank you." but my heart was stuck somewhere, unreachable and unresponsive. She blushed. Her fucking cheeks tainted reddish because she fucking blushed. I didn't know what else to say when THANKFULLY the waiter came. "Good evening sir, I am Adelard, your waiter for tonight. What drinks can I get you?"
I looked at Avelina when she whispered, "I'll go with wine."
I nodded and looked at him to catch him eyeing Avelina's covered breasts. Anger coursed like electricity through my veins when relaxing back in my seat, keeping my left arm relaxed on the table, I raised my right hand and snapped my fingers at him, "Adelard, I don't like to repeat this twice so you better fucking listen to me once and for all. If I find you looking at my wife again, even if its to just confirm her fucking order, you'll regret the day you were born. I promise, I'll gauge your eyes out and feed you with salsa and feed your dick as dessert to you with whatever sauce you prefer. So keep your fucking eyes off of what's mine."
He cleared his throat and whispered a sorry when I growled in anger, "Wine for my wife, and Spirytus for me. Get out."
"Yes sir." and he hurried off.
As soon as he was out of sight, Avelina had an apologetic look on her face, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to feel-"
I shook my head, "You don't need to apologize for the way you want to dress. It's stupid to apologize for wanting to wear something that you clearly want to and what makes you happy. Don't support his actions even when he is wrong. Call him out, and hold your head straight up high for when you do so. Even if the right path is empty? Just remember, it's the right path. It's never gonna be easy. You look fucking damn beautiful, own it."
Her mouth dropped open when it took me a few seconds to realize what I had said. I shifted in my seat when she closed her mouth and we were back to the silent game. This time too, Avelina was the one to break it.
"Thank you for the flowers."
I nodded, "They were meant for you."
"How did you know blue is my favourite colour? Even Cassio didn't know."
