SEVEN HOURS LATER
ALESSIO
Dad still hadn't calmed down and mum was trying her best to make it happen. She wouldn't look into my eyes and I understood. Her own son raped a female, how could she ever even look........... and my fucking eyes widened.
My fucking eyes widened because I remembered now. I fucking remembered now that when my mother was kidnapped by our enemies? She was also raped. Her innocence was also violated when she was pregnant with a daughter who finally died inside her womb.
My heart thrummed against my ribcage realizing that I did exactly what the enemies did to my mother. And so, hyperventilating, I turned around, grabbed my car keys and just rushed outside.
Exiting the gates of my father's mansion, I zoomed past roads, pressing the accelerator harshly when my phone ringed. It was Cassio. I was driving at 320m/s and it wasn't wise to pick up the call but I did, effectively pressing further on the accelerator, taking it to 380m/s.
"Yes?"
"What's up? Where are you?"
"Coming back from parents."
"Oh okay. Are they good?"
I lied straight through my teeth, "Perfect. Why did you call?"
"No reason. It was four in the morning and-" he shifted and his voice lowered, "Avelina was worried for you-"
Suddenly, I lowered the speed of my car and asked him, "Why was she worried for me?"
"Real people care."
I didn't respond for a few seconds when I just said, "I'll be there in a few, tell her to sleep and don't wait for me." She never deserved this. I wanted to add on that tell her to sleep on the bed but something stirred within me. I wanted to myself lift her up and place her on her designated place in our bed.
Our bed.
"Hold up."
I waited for him to tell it to her when the next thing I heard, made my heart drop its beat and made me tighten my hands around the steering wheel as I pressed down further on the accelerator, my brain losing focus as I just sped the car. My heartbeat increased and my brain went into a frenzy of emotions when Avelina spoke from the other end, "Hello?"
And I don't know what snapped inside of me for me to respond this way, my heart calming down a million times down hearing her beautiful, soothing voice, "Yes, darling?"
She sucked in a breath but immediately collected herself, "Why aren't you home? Are you okay?"
I took a turn and continued racing down the street, "I am perfectly fine, was at my parents. Am on my way."
She was silent for a few when she asked, "How are they?"
I bit my lip fighting over if I should tell her or not when I looked at the clock, then at the road and then at the sky. Who knew when my life ended? Better to tell it and just get it over with rather than never get to tell her ever.
"They are good. Been quite eager to meet their daughter in law."
She was silent for a few when she asked, "Do they like me?"
I chuckled and whispered, "They love you." and my heart missed several beats because this was the first time I had said the l word to her. My parent's didn't love her, they admired her and felt for her. The strong feeling was by me.
"Oh..... can I meet them one day?"
"Do you want to?"
"Only if you are okay."
