Hi. Just wanted to say that I entered this story in the Watty's, so really wishing that you can help and engage more with the story. I don't care about winning, I just want my story to be heard as well amongst the others. Thank you!!!!
———————ALESSIO
I drank the medicines in one go directly from the bottle because I was too lazy to have it properly. I mean, taking it from a spoon? Seriously? I wasn't a kid. There was a knock on my bedroom door when I allowed whoever it was to enter.
The door opened when a smile automatically melted over my lips. A very small boy, resembling no one but Cassio stood at the door, wearing shorts with cars drawn on them, a shirt with another car drawn on but this car was weird since it had eyes. Huh. Lips. Double huh. And it was smiling. Pretty creepy.
He had round chubby cheeks, a gorgeous smile gifting his face, large blue eyes and a small nose. He had blonde hair when Cassio nudged him, "Go, say hi."
He kept standing there and giggled a bit when judging by the reaction and that specific giggle, I knew it was from the fact that he was nervous.
I shifted in bed when I called out to him, "Jamie. Come here, buddy."
As if some electric force pulled him, he nodded and came towards me. He had a much more fair complexion than Cassio, which he himself told came from Jamie's mother. James stood next to me, his height coming to the middle of my chest even as I was sitting on the bed and hunched over a bit.
I picked him up and put him on the bed when I laid out my hand, "Hi."
He giggled and shook my hand confidently, "Hi."
His voice was cute. Cassio came and sat on the nearest chair when I ruffled Jamie's hair, "It's good to see you."
He suddenly chirped up, "Same."
"Oh really? Since-"
He nodded frantically, "I saw you in pictures only, dad never took me to meet you."
I looked quizically at Cassio when he made a face at me and stuck his tongue out. Forcing my gaze back at Jamie, I asked him, "What pictures?"
He suddenly sat on the bed and looked up at me, light shining in his eyes as he smiled WIDELY, "You want to see?"
"Sure buddy."
He opened his bag rummaging through almost every item he could possibly own when he took out a small male purse. He opened it and took out polaroids when after going through them, he handed me a few, "These are of the walls. Dad has these in our house."
Cassio didn't stop us and hence, I looked at them. There were photo frames of Jamie when he was a baby and when he was growing up. There were pictures of me, my dad, mom, sister and whole family. There were pictures of Julianna, pregnant Julianna, crazy Julianna, sleeping Julianna, dracula Julianna. My eyes kept moving forward when my heart did a tug. It made sure to make me notice that it skipped beats.
There were pictures of Avelina right next to pictures of me. Avelina looked mighty beautiful in all. In one, she was wearing a white frock, her hair waving, her smile glowing as she stood in front of the beach. One had of her in a red dress, holding a chocolate cake with candles lit and smiling at the camera. Then there were images of her in pyjamas hugging her mother and kissing her cheek.
Beautiful.
Gorgeous as ever.
And in all...she was wearing no makeup, which made my heart do another tug. So fucking innocent and beautiful.
And then there were my pictures, all in suits, tailored check shirts and what not. I was dressed formal in all, wearing my Ray Bans in some, posing for the camera in another. One could see my sharp chin bone, my muscles bulging underneath the fabric of my shirt, my clothes fitting so well on me. There was this one particular collage that caught my eye.
