ALESSIO

I silently grabbed her hand and pulled her to our room when I softly locked the door behind. My eyes closed and Julianna flashed before my eyes when I forcefully shut it all down. It was the past. It was gone. And I had to move on.

I couldn't hurt people more than I already had. It was enough damage.

Releasing a sigh and opening my eyes, I turned around and pulled Avelina towards the bed. As soon as we got close, her stance became rigid and I could feel her weight getting heavier and it getting harder for me to pull. I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see hesitation on her face. I immediately rubbed my thumb over the back of her hand, "I am not doing anything."

Her eyes held unspoken and so difficult emotions that I couldn't decipher as to what she was feeling exactly. She stood more rigidly when I sighed and walked over to her. Holding her face in my hands, I rubbed her cheeks with my thumb, "I am so sorry, Avelina. I am so fucking sorry."

She didn't respond anything when I pointed to the bed behind, "That is your place and that is where you'll sleep. You don't have to sleep anywhere else ever again."

She eyed the bed and then back at me when she wrapped her arms around herself and rubbed her arms. I left her face when I suddenly understood; She wasn't comfortable with me sharing a bed with her. And it was completely understandable. Whatever I had done in the past with her? Her this reaction was completely understandable.

Going towards her, I wrapped one arm around her waist and the other under her knees when I lifted her up. Her body was rigid as fuck, as if on alarm mode but that, in itself needed time. She needed time to get back to her normal self and it was quite natural. I went to the bed and laid her over there, her head softly hitting the cushion where I used to sleep.

She immediately whispered, "You sleep here."

I nodded, "Lay here for now."

I wanted her to sleep at my side but my side was closer to the door of our room than her side. And incase something happened, I wanted to make sure that even if someone barges inside our room? She isn't the first target, I am.

I laid her down and covered her with the blanket when my eyes never meeting hers, I turned around and took off my shirt and vest. Throwing it somewhere aside, I lifted the hem of my pants a bit and sat on the floor. Placing my back against the side of the bed, where Avelina was lying down, I arched one leg above, making a triangle and let the other rest on the ground.

I heard shuffling from the back till Avelina laid still. I could sense her face angled towards my body as my back was facing her when I slid a bit lower and let my head rest against the mattress. Looking up above the ceiling, I started, "I was already married once, but that marriage lasted not more than half an hour. Julianna and I got married in a church and the moment we went out and decided to go attend the rest of the party?" Something heavy dropped within my chest when I knew......I couldn't let go of my first love even if I wanted to. That's not how love works.

You don't just forget the person you handed over your whole heart to just because someone says so. You don't just snap out of it because love isn't something to snap out of. It pulls you till you drown low enough to not even know who the fuck you are. It drags you to the bottomless pit of the sea without oxygen blessing your lungs, causing you massive pain due to the difficulty in breathing. And you know what's funny? For that person, you'd do it a thousand times over. Because if you wouldn't? That was never love.

Love is fierce, love is blind, love is.....draining. It makes you the strongest while making you the weakest simultaneously. It is that one thing that robs you off of your sanity and leaves you hopeless and helpless, yet still full.
