AVELINA

I let my fingers linger over the spines of the books kept in Alessio's office. I remember finding his nose buried in these extremely large and heavy volumes
of books that were displayed in his office. I was always curious to know as to what were these books about, that held his interest so fucking much and so
fucking deep. I carefully took a book out when my mouth turned sour.

Economics.

Ew.

I shrugged and placed it back when I took the other one out.

Advanced Macroeconomics.

I could puke.

I placed it back, moving to the other end and taking a random book out.

Getting a PhD in Economics.

YUCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!

I placed the books back and looked through the shelf above which had all about accounting and stats. The shelf above had all about business and marketing
strategies. Was my husband THIS boring? Why didn't he have any smutty romance novels? Surely, his ex-wife might have loved reading those, but then again, I shook my head. Nobody till date knew what kind of novels I read. People would judge me and this used to scare me before. Until.

Until Alessio found out.

Imagine.

I know, right?

Same.

My thoughts wandered off to that night when the whole damn movie was clearly printed within my brain for when Alessio caught me.

The lights to the room were off, I had taken off my trousers and had covered my naked legs with the blanket when I was holding the phone with both hands. Everything within me was tingling and I could feel myself getting excited with what was about to come next. Sweat accumulated on my forehead, there was a constant pitter-patter in my heart, nerves getting the best of me, my heart nearly skipping beats every so often. I pulled the duvet closer to me, my eyes glued to the screen, my heart in my throat when Harvey stood up and spoke for the plaintiff, slamming proofs after proofs in the International Court of Justice when Mike was bombarding him with more and more evidence as they were clearly about to win the case.

Judge Hopkins looked at the defender, waiting to rebut the plaintiff's motion when they had none. The judge clearly ruled in the favour of Harvey and Mike when I jumped and screamed at the top of my lungs in happiness when my fist connected with a wall and pain jolted up my nerves. Immediately cradling my hand, I looked up to see which wall decided to unalive themself, move and stand right next to me when I saw Alessio holding his jaw. Horror marred my face when before I could I offer him sincere apologies, he waved it off.

I opened my mouth several times but nothing came out when Alessio averted his gaze from me, something that he always does now after he acknowledged the fact that he had hurt me a lot. He never looked me in the eyes anymore. He stopped doing that a long time ago.

"I never took you as the type to enjoy this stuff."

I shut off the phone and looked at him, staring at the side of his face as he looked away from me, "Is it bad?"

His head jerked to my side, but his eyes never met mine, "No. Why would you think that?"

"I never told anyone as people might judge."
