ALESSIO
We were sitting on the rooftop, the night silent with not even a single animal awake. I sipped on my alcohol when Cassio sighed, sitting right next to me, "I don't think I can ever lose Jamie."
"You wouldn't. I wouldn't let it happen."
Cassio looked at me when he placed his glass on the table, hunched forward, placed his arms on his legs and intertwined his hands together, "Can I ask you something? Just promise me you wouldn't get mad."
"You never stopped before, so sure, ask away. As for not being mad? It's as stupid as asking me to inhale ur farts instead of oxygen."
He sighed and ignored my retort, "Sorry in advance for my next statement."
I nodded when he gulped, "I never knew you lost two kids."
My fucking heart froze as if my hands were no indication. My eyes widened and my grip around the glass tightened. So much so that it cracked and the glass broke. There was a strong yet a distant ringing in my ears, pain erupting in my inner cochlea when I felt my skull throbbing. What did he just say? What even in the name of Hell?
I asked him, my voice coming out low and fucking dangerous, everything within me on the verge of snapping and losing control, "How do you know?"
"When I came to the baby room to find you, there was a picture by your feet of Julianna, Ayla and you. You wrote behind it."
My teeth gritted against each other but I didn't say anything because there was no fault of his. I gulped down the entire drink in one go, it burning my throat when I rasped out, "You could have had the decency to not read it all."
"I know. I was curious and curiosity got to me first."
I breathed in and out, not saying a word when his voice lowered in sympathy, "Alessio-"
"Don't."
"But-"
"I buried the past. I buried it deep down and I am no longer in favour of opening it again."
"Did your parents know?"
"About my son? No."
"What the fuck? How did you hide it?"
"Simple. I never slipped it that I have a son, never told anyone that I had a son and Julie stayed by my side, respecting my wishes."
"Where the fuck was I?"
"Remember when I told you that Julianna and I were going on a well deserved break for a few where you lost your shit?"
He nodded when I directly drank the alcohol from the bottle, "Yeah, it was to be with him. I just didn't know he'll also pass away there."
"How old was he?"
"His mother left him when he was three months old. Julie and I started taking care of him, at that time, Julie and I had recently started dating and hence, she didn't accuse me of cheating because I had this one night stand in my past. Anyways, we took him in permanently with full custody granted by the court when he was three months old. He passed away when he was seven months old. Buried him at 2 in the early morning because the darkness calmed me down somehow."
