Later just before midday, as Thomas lay in bed with his daughter Ellie on his chest, he couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and contentment wash over him. The birth of his daughter was a miracle, and he was grateful for every moment he got to spend with her. He was just about to doze off when he heard a knock at the door.

Thomas was surprised to see young master George enter the room, all on his own. The three-year-old boy approached him with a big grin on his face and said, "Mr. Barrow, can I see the baby?"

Thomas smiled and replied, "Of course, Master George. Just be careful and gentle."

He watched as George climbed onto the bed and sat next to him, his eyes fixed on Ellie. He reached out and softly stroked her head, and Thomas couldn't help but smile at the sight.

"She's so soft," George whispered in awe.

Thomas chuckled and replied, "Yes, she is."

As he watched the young boy interact with his daughter, Thomas knew that their friendship was going to be a special one. He could already see the bond forming between the two of them.

"You two are going to be the best of friends," Thomas said, a smile spreading across his face.

Young master George looked up at Thomas and said, "I know, Mr. Barrow. I already love her."

Thomas felt a warm feeling in his heart, knowing that his daughter and young master George would have each other in the years to come.

"I have a feeling that you and Ellie are going to have many adventures together," Thomas said, giving the young boy a knowing smile.

George nodded and replied, "I can't wait."

As Thomas lay there in bed with Ellie, he couldn't help but feel once again a sense of peace wash over him. He had never felt this way before, he had never been so content in his entire life. He was a father now, a real father, and he was completely in love with this tiny, fragile little human being.

He remembered the moment she was born, the moment he no longer felt pain but relief and he heard her cries for the first time as the cord was cut and she was placed in his arms, he had felt like his heart was about to burst with joy. He had never felt anything like it before.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the scent of his daughter's hair. It was a smell that he knew he would never forget, a smell that he would always associate with this moment, this moment of complete and utter happiness.

As he looked down at Ellie, he couldn't help but think about how much his life had changed since she had entered it.

Ellie let out a little gurgle and Thomas smiled, kissing her head. He knew that his life would never be the same again, and he was completely okay with that. Ellie was his world now, and he was going to make sure that she always knew just how much she was loved.

"Sleep well, my little one," he whispered.

Ellie cooed softly in her sleep, making little noises as she dreamed. Thomas listened to her, a smile spreading across his face. He had never felt this level of happiness before. He was finally a father, and he felt as if he had been given a second chance at life.

A short while later, Ellie shifted uncomfortably in her sleep, making little mewing sounds. Thomas knew what she needed. "Time for a nappy change, little one," he said, as he carefully lifted her from his shoulder and placed her on the bed. He retrieved a fresh nappy and a clean cloth, and set to work.

As he changed her nappy, he couldn't help but think about all the challenges that lay ahead. He was a single father, and he would have to work hard to provide for Ellie. But he was determined to do whatever it took to give her the life she deserved.

He picked her up and cradled her in his arms, humming a soft lullaby as she drifted off to sleep. As he held her, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. Despite all the difficulties he knew he would face, he was ready to take on the world, as long as he had Ellie by his side.
