He couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and wonder at the tiny life he held in his arms. As he looked at her, he saw a hint of himself in her and it filled him with a sense of joy that he had never experienced before. He felt a love for this little girl that was beyond words, and he knew that he would do anything to protect her and give her the best life possible.
Thomas whispered, "You are my everything, my reason for being. I promise to love you always, no matter what."
He listened to the sound of her soft cooing noises and the gentle breaths that left her mouth as her tiny hands explored his face. Thomas was in awe of this new person in his life, and he couldn't help but think of all the sacrifices that had been made by so many during the war, and how thankful he was to be able to hold his daughter on this day of remembrance.
Thomas closed his eyes, basked in the warmth of the moment, and whispered a prayer of thanks for the blessings he had been given. He was grateful for this moment, and he knew that it was just the beginning of a beautiful journey as a father. He held his daughter close and promised to love her always, and to be there for her every step of the way.
The sound of rain hitting the windowpane was a soft background to the peaceful scene, a lullaby for the newborn. The young father couldn't help but smile.
As he gazed down at his daughter's face. He couldn't believe that he was finally a father, and the experience was unlike anything he had ever felt before. He took in every detail of his daughter's features, studying her delicate nose and rosebud mouth. She had pale green eyes, just like his, and dark hair, forming on her head.
He felt a warmth spreading through his chest, a love so pure and all-consuming that it took his breath away. He took hold of her tiny hand, marvelling at the strength of her grip as she clutched onto his finger.
"You are so precious to me," Thomas whispered. "I promise to always love and protect you, no matter what the world may bring."
He lay there for what felt like hours, watching his daughter sleep, listening to the rain and feeling content. He thought about all the memories he would make with her and all the love he would give her. He promised himself that he would be the best father that he could be, to show her the world and all its wonders.
"I will be there for you, every step of the way," Thomas said softly, as he leaned in to kiss his daughter's forehead. "I love you, my little one. My Ellie. You are so precious to me," he said.
However, Ellie was fussy and unsettled, and Thomas wondered if she was hungry. He let her suckle on his pinky finger to give her comfort, but he knew that he needed to feed her properly. Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Anna entered with a bottle of milk.
"Here you are, Thomas," she said, handing him the bottle. "Mrs Patmore made it and Mrs Hughes asked me to bring it to you and to check on you."
"Well, you can tell them we're both fine and not to worry.", he replied as he smiled and thanked Anna before she turned leaving his room and closing the door behind her as he began to feed Ellie. As he held the bottle to her lips, he watched her drink eagerly, making soft cooing noises and breathing rapidly. He felt a warmth in his heart as he held his daughter, and he knew that he would do anything for her.
