At just a week old, little Finley was slowly adjusting to life outside of his father's womb. Meanwhile, Thomas was slowly easing himself back into his duties.

On bright October afternoon, Thomas decided to take Ellie and Finley outside to a quiet part of the Downton gardens. With Finley cradled in his arms and Ellie carefully walking ahead, trying not to lose her balance, they set off to find a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the autumn day.

As they strolled through the garden's, Thomas couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. It was as if the beauty of nature, the warm sunshine, and the laughter of his children were soothing his soul. The fallen leaves created a colourful carpet beneath their feet, and the crisp breeze rustled the branches of the towering trees around them.

Ellie, with her determined spirit, continued to move forward, her little legs doing their best to navigate the slightly uneven terrain.

But Ellie was resilient and refused to let her physical challenges hinder her adventurous spirit.

"Daddy, look! Look at all t - the leaves!" Ellie exclaimed, pointing at the vibrant foliage scattered around them.

Thomas could only chuckle in response to her enthusiasm and seeing so many fallen leaves given the time of year.

Finding the perfect spot, they settled under a large tree, its branches providing a comforting canopy overhead. Thomas gently placed Finley in a soft blanket on the grass, making sure to keep a watchful eye on his little one.

As Ellie explored her surroundings, Thomas retrieved a small picnic basket filled with snacks and a thermos of warm tea. He carefully poured the tea into cups for himself and Ellie, making sure not to spill a single drop.

"Thank y - you, Daddy," Ellie said with a wide smile, accepting the cup from him.

"You're welcome, sweetheart," Thomas replied, returning her smile.

Together they enjoyed their peaceful afternoon, sipping tea and snacking on biscuits. Ellie chatted animatedly about her morning, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she recounted the games she played with Sybbie and George.

"Daddy, can we p - play catch?" Ellie asked, her eyes hopeful.

"Of course, we can, my darling," Thomas replied, his heart always ready to indulge his daughter's wishes.

Thomas tossed a soft ball towards Ellie, who did her best to catch it despite her challenges with coordination. It was clear that Ellie's movements were affected by her condition, but Thomas cheered her on, praising her every effort.

"That's it, Ellie! You're doing it, clever girl" he encouraged, his heart brimming with pride for his daughter's determination.

Time seemed to slow down in that tranquil corner of the Downton gardens. Thomas cherished these moments, knowing how precious they were.

The autumn breeze gently rustled the tree's branches, creating a soothing melody that seemed to calm both children.

"Look, Ellie," Thomas said, his voice soft and tender as he pointed to the falling leaves. "See how the leaves dance in the air?"

Ellie giggled, her small face lighting up with joy. "There p - pretty leaves, daddy," she replied, her speech slightly affected by her cerebral palsy.

"That's right, my darling," Thomas smiled, pride and love evident in his eyes. "They are beautiful, just like you."

Ellie beamed at the compliment, her hand reaching out to touch the leaves that had already landed on the ground. Thomas marveled at her determination and spirit, even with her condition. She had faced so many challenges in her short life, but she never let them dampen her spirit.

Meanwhile, Finley let out a contented coo, seemingly mesmerized by the colorful foliage around him. Thomas couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude for his two precious children.

As they sat there, basking in the tranquility of the garden, Thomas couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had led him here. Becoming a father was a dream he thought he'd never realise, and the circumstances surrounding Ellie's birth were nothing short of miraculous.

When Thomas had first learned that he was pregnant with Ellie, he faced a rollercoaster of emotions. The journey was fraught with challenges, judgment, and heartache, but he never gave up on the tiny life growing inside him. Everyone at Downton, including the Crawley family and his fellow staff members, had been surprisingly supportive and understanding, providing the love and care he needed during those difficult times.

As the days turned into months and then years, Thomas's bond with Ellie grew stronger. He spent countless hours playing with her, teaching her new things, and encouraging her every step of the way. Despite the challenges Ellie faced with her balance and movement, Thomas never treated her any differently. To him, she was perfect, and he wanted her to know that.

With Finley in his arms and his back against the trunk of the tree, Thomas watched as Ellie eyes lit up with delight as she began collecting the fallen leaves, her tiny hands carefully selecting each one. With a determined look on her face, she attempted to throw and kick the leaves into the air, though some fell to the ground before reaching her intended target.

Thomas felt his heart swell with pride for both of his children. Ellie's nurturing nature and her ability to see beauty in the simplest things were qualities he cherished. And little Finley, though so small, already had his father's heart wrapped around his tiny fingers.

After collecting enough leaves for a sizable pile, Ellie decided it was time for some play. She carefully arranged the leaves into a mound, looking back at her father with anticipation in her eyes. "W - watch, Daddy!" she exclaimed, preparing to jump into the pile.

"Be careful, Ellie," Thomas cautioned gently. "Take it slow, okay?"

Ellie nodded, understanding her father's concern. With measured steps, she approached the leaf pile, her determination evident in every move. When she finally leaped into the leaves, her laughter filled the air, and Thomas couldn't help but smile.

"She's definitely a Barrow alright", he said to himself the smile never leaving his face.

Soon, Ellie carefully balanced herself, using all her strength to throw some of the leaves up into the air. It didn't go very high, but her excitement was infectious. Thomas clapped and cheered, making her giggle with delight.

Ellie then returned to her father's side, a little out of breath but grinning from ear to ear, he used his free arm to pull her into a warm embrace, pressing a loving kiss atop her head.

"Such a clever girl, Ellie," Thomas said, pride evident in his voice.

Ellie beamed up at her father, her bright eyes reflecting the love she felt for him. "L - love you, daddy," she replied, her words filled with innocence and adoration.

"I love you too, my darling," Thomas replied, his voice tender and soft.
