The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the cottage window, Thomas woke up feeling more fatigued than usual. Despite having enjoyed a full night's sleep, he found himself battling a sense of weariness. As he sat up in bed, he couldn't ignore the discomfort in his stomach, a dull ache that gnawed at his insides.

Gently rubbing his belly, Thomas tried to ease the discomfort. But the ache persisted, growing stronger and more insistent. Ellie stirred beside him, her eyes fluttering open. Sensing her father's unease, she reached out to touch his arm.

"What's w - wrong, Daddy?" Ellie asked, her voice filled with concern.

Thomas offered a reassuring smile, trying to hide his discomfort. "Oh, it's nothing to worry about, sweetheart," he replied, his voice filled with tenderness. "Sometimes, when the baby is growing, Daddy might feel a little bit uncomfortable."

Ellie's eyes widened with understanding, and she nodded solemnly. "Can I help m - make you feel better, Daddy?" she asked, her voice filled with determination.

Thomas was touched by his daughter's compassion. He pulled her close and hugged her gently, the love he felt for her overwhelming his worries. "Just having you here, by my side, makes me feel better already, Ellie," he murmured, his voice filled with gratitude. "You're the best helper I could ever ask for."

But Ellie's instincts told her something was amiss. She shifted closer to her father, her small hand touching his belly.

But Ellie being the empathetic soul soon needed a little more reassurance, "Daddy, a - are you sure you are o - okay?"

Thomas's heart swelled with affection for his daughter his eyes meeting Ellie's. "Oh, my sweet girl, nothing's wrong, don't worry," he reassured her, trying to hide his own concern. "Daddy's just feeling a little uncomfortable. It's nothing to be concerned about."

He quickly decided to change the subject not wanting to worry her any further.

"How did you sleep darling?"

Ellie beamed at him, her face lighting up with delight. "I slept w - well, Daddy. Can I f - feel the baby kick?"

Thomas chuckled softly, placing a hand on Ellie's head and ruffling her raven hair. "Not just yet, my darling. The baby is still very small, but soon you'll be able to feel those little kicks in a few weeks. Won't that be something?"

Ellie nodded eagerly, her eyes wide with anticipation. She had been fascinated by the idea of her new sibling ever since Thomas had shared the news with her. Her unconditional love and acceptance made Thomas feel truly blessed.

As the morning progressed. He moved with caution, mindful of his changing body and the delicate life growing within. The fatigue, coupled with the unfamiliar sensations, left him feeling vulnerable yet determined to embrace this new phase of his life.

Thomas knew that this journey would bring its own set of challenges. Ellie's cerebral palsy had taught him the true meaning of resilience and unconditional love. But he also knew that he possessed the strength and courage to face whatever lay ahead. He would be the best father he could be to both of his children, cherishing and nurturing their unique spirits.

He realised that he was embarking on a path that few had tread before—a path filled with love, hope, and the profound connection between a father and his children.

As the morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, Thomas made a decision. He knew that today would be a lazy day, a day to relax and indulge in the simple pleasure of spending time with his daughter. Ellie had sensed her father's weariness, and her empathetic nature urged her to stay by his side, not wanting him to face the day alone.

"Ellie," Thomas whispered, his voice laced with affection as he brushed a lock of her raven hair away from her face. "Today, we're going to have a lazy day, just the two of us. How does that sound?"

Ellie's eyes lit up with excitement as she snuggled closer to her father. "Lazy day?" she exclaimed, her words filled with innocent joy. "Can we s - stay in bed all day, Daddy?"

A soft smile played on Thomas's lips as he nodded. "Absolutely, my love. We can stay right here, cozy and warm. I might need some extra rest today, and having you by my side will make it all the better."

The duo settled deeper into the comfort of the bed, wrapped in the warmth. Ellie, being aware of her sibling's impending arrival, had already embraced the concept of being a big sister. She was eager to welcome the new addition to their small family, knowing that her love and care would help nurture the bond between them.

Thomas soon allowed himself to drift into a peaceful slumber, his daughter's presence a soothing balm to his weariness. Ellie, her little hand resting on her father's belly, whispered tender words to her unborn sibling, her voice filled with innocent adoration.

As the day waned and evening approached, Thomas awoke to find Ellie still nestled by his side, her eyes filled with contentment. The fatigue that had plagued him earlier had lifted, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation. He realized that the lazy day had served its purpose, not only providing him with rest but also reminding him of the joy and love that surrounded him.

Gently stroking Ellie's cheek, Thomas whispered, "Thank you, my darling girl. Your presence has brought me comfort and strength today. I am grateful to have you as my daughter and to be blessed with another precious life growing inside me."

Ellie beamed, her eyes shining with love and understanding. "I love y - you, Daddy," she said, her words filled with the purest form of affection.

"I love you too, Ellie," Thomas replied, his voice choked with emotion. "And I love our growing family. We have so much to look forward to, my sweet girl."
