It was a beautiful May morning at Downton Abbey, and the sun was shining brightly through the windows of the servants' kitchen. Thomas was sitting at the table with the other members of the household staff, enjoying his breakfast. To his left, in a high chair, sat Ellie.

Although Ellie couldn't talk yet, Thomas had noticed that she had become more vocal in recent weeks. Now she was six months old she was also starting to reach and grab things, which was a big milestone for her. Thomas was determined to do everything he could to make sure his daughter was happy and comfortable, despite her condition.

As Thomas and the other staff members chatted and ate, Ellie watched them intently. Suddenly, Thomas had an idea. He reached over and picked up a fresh strawberry from the fruit bowl.

"Here you go, sweetheart," he said, holding the strawberry out to her. "Let's see what you think of this."

Ellie looked at the strawberry for a moment, then reached out and grabbed it with both hands.

At first, Ellie seemed unsure of what to do with the fruit. She scrunches up her nose and wrinkled her brow, as if trying to figure out what this strange new taste was. But then, she suddenly broke into a wide, gummy smile that lit up her face.

Everyone at the table watched in amazement as Ellie's face lit up with delight. She chewed happily on the juicy fruit, making little sounds.

Thomas couldn't help but smile as he watched his daughter enjoy the strawberry. He felt a surge of pride and joy at seeing her overcome a small obstacle.

"Looks like someone's got a taste for strawberries," he said, grinning.

The other staff members chuckled and congratulated Ellie on her newfound love of fruit. Thomas couldn't have been happier. Seeing his daughter grow and develop, even in small ways, was the greatest gift he could ask for.

"She's getting more vocal these days, isn't she?" remarked Mrs. Hughes.

Thomas nodded, "Yes, she's been making a lot more noises lately. And she's been reaching for things too, which is great."

"It must be so exciting to see her reaching these milestones," said Anna.

"It really is," replied Thomas. "It's amazing to see how much progress she's making, even with her condition."

Ellie continued to babble and coo as she ate her breakfast, and Thomas couldn't help but smile at her. He knew that raising a child with cerebral palsy would have its challenges, but moments like this reminded him of how lucky he was to have Ellie in his life.

As the staff continued their conversation, Ellie reached out for another piece of strawberry, her tiny fingers grasping it tightly. She let out a delighted gurgle, causing everyone at the table to laugh.

"She's definitely got a sweet tooth," joked Mr. Carson, the butler, who had been watching Ellie's progress with interest.

Thomas couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness and contentment as he watched his daughter enjoying her first solid food.

Later that day Thomas was on his way to serve tea to Lady Grantham and the Dowager Countess, who were enjoying the afternoon in the gardens.

As he approached the two ladies, he saw that they were seated under the shade of a large tree, overlooking the rose garden. Lady Grantham looked up and smiled as she saw him, and the Dowager Countess nodded in acknowledgement.

"Good afternoon, Thomas," Lady Grantham said. "How are you today?"

"I'm well, thank you, M'Lady," Thomas replied. "I hope you're both enjoying the beautiful weather."

"We most certainly are," the Dowager Countess said. "It's lovely to be outside and enjoy the gardens."

Thomas set down the tray of tea and delicately placed the cups and saucers in front of the ladies. He then poured the tea, being careful not to spill a drop.

"Thank you, Thomas," Lady Grantham replied. "And how is Ellie doing?"

"Ellie is doing as well as she can," Thomas replied. "She's growing stronger every day, but it's a struggle for her some days."

There was a pause in silence until Lady Grantham broke the quiet with a question, "Thomas, have you given any thought to Ellie's future? What sort of life do you want for her?"

Thomas thought for a moment before answering, "I want her to have every opportunity in life, M'Lady. I want her to be happy and healthy, and to have the chance to pursue whatever dreams she may have."

"Excellent answer," the Dowager said, nodding in approval. "I'm sure you'll do everything in your power to make that happen."
