Thomas Barrow had always been a man of discipline and routine. But since his daughter Ellie was born three months ago, everything had changed. He had never imagined that he could love someone so fiercely and completely, and now, his days revolved around her. As a single father, he took his responsibilities seriously, and cherished every moment with his little girl.
On a warm spring morning, Thomas decided to take Ellie out for a stroll on the grounds of Downton Abbey. He made his way towards the gardens. As he walked, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and happiness at the sight of his little girl snuggled against his chest.
Once they reached a quiet corner of the gardens, Thomas sat down under a large tree, and gently lifted Ellie out of the carrier. He held her upright, supporting her head and neck with one hand while the other hand cradled her tiny body. Ellie's face was buried into his neck, and he could feel her warm breath on his skin.
Looking down at his daughter, Thomas couldn't help but smile. "You know Ellie, your dad never imagined he'd be a father. But now that you're here, I can't imagine my life without you."
Ellie cooed in response, and Thomas chuckled softly. "You're a good listener, aren't you?" he said, stroking her soft hair. "I hope you'll always come to me when you need someone to talk to."
"I never knew I could feel this way," Thomas whispered softly to Ellie, who responded with a gurgle. "You've changed my life in ways I never thought possible. You're my world."
Thomas smiled down at Ellie, his heart overflowing with love and joy. As a single father, he knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but he was determined to give Ellie the best life possible. He wanted to be there for her every step of the way, to guide her and protect her.
"You may be small now, Ellie, but you have the potential to do great things," Thomas said, looking into her pale green eyes. "I promise to support you and encourage you in everything you do."
Ellie let out a contented sigh, and Thomas felt a surge of pride and happiness wash over him. He knew that being a single father would be a challenge, but moments like these made it all worth it. He was grateful for the opportunity to be a father, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
As they sat under the tree, Thomas held Ellie close, feeling her warmth and her love. He knew that they had a long road ahead of them, but he was ready for whatever came their way. With Ellie by his side, he felt like he could conquer the world.
"I love you, Ellie," Thomas whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "You're my everything."

A short while later Thomas retired to his room. He propped up several pillows behind him and brought his knees to his chest, laying Ellie on his legs. She cooed and gurgled, her big pale green eyes gazing at him.
Thomas couldn't help but smile at the sight.
He started to gently tickle her tummy, watching as she wriggled and squirmed in delight. And then he heard it - the sound he had been waiting for since Ellie was born. A faint, yet unmistakable sound that brought tears to his eyes.
Ellie was trying to laugh.
Thomas felt his heart swell with love and joy as he continued to tickle her tummy. He wanted to hear more of that beautiful sound.
As he played with Ellie, Thomas couldn't help but think about how much his life had changed in such a short amount of time. Just a few months ago, he had been trying to find ways to be content with his quiet existence as a footman at Downton Abbey. But now, everything was different. He had a new purpose, a new reason for living.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.
"Look at you, my clever girl," he said, grinning from ear to ear. "You're laughing! Daddy's so proud of you."
As he continued to interact with Ellie, Thomas felt a sense of peace wash over him. It was a rare moment of calm in his usually hectic life. He savored every second of it, knowing that he would have to go back to work soon enough.
But for now, he was content to just be a father. To hold his daughter close and watch her grow. It was the most important job he had ever had, and he was determined to do it well.
"I Love you, Ellie, my little bunny," he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Always and forever."
As he lay there with his daughter, Thomas realized that this was what true happiness felt like. He had never felt more content than he did at that moment, surrounded by the love of his child.
