Thomas paced his room, gently swaying with his daughter Ellie held upright in his arms against his chest. She was clearly exhausted and tired, but despite his efforts, she refused to fall asleep. Thomas had tried everything from singing lullabies to rubbing her back, but nothing seemed to work.
As he continued to pace, he caught sight of Ellie in the mirror and watched as she gave a tiny tired giggle. He couldn't help but smile, wondering what could be making her giggle suddenly when she was so tired. He leaned his head back, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders as he contemplated his daughter's happiness.
"Ellie, what's making you laugh, little one?" he asked softly, looking down at her tired face.
Ellie's eyes were drooping, and her head was resting on her father's left shoulder, but she managed to give him another small giggle in response. Thomas couldn't help but chuckle along with her, his heart swelling with love for his little girl.
Ellie let out another tired giggle and closed her eyes, snuggling closer to him. He continued to sway back and forth, his eyes fixed on the mirror as he watched his daughter's expressions.
He could see her tiny mouth forming a smile, and he could hear her soft chuckles, even as her eyes drooped with exhaustion. Thomas felt his heart swell with love as he watched his daughter, amazed by the joy she could find even in the midst of fatigue.
Thomas whispered softly to Ellie, "You are such a special little girl, Ellie. I love you so much." Ellie let out a contented sigh and nestled even closer to him.
For the next few minutes, Thomas continued to sway back and forth, holding Ellie close and enjoying the peaceful moment. As he looked at her in the mirror, he felt a deep sense of gratitude for the time he could spend with her.
"You're something else, you know that?" he said, grinning from ear to ear. "Even when you're tired, you manage to find joy in the smallest things."
Thomas continued to pace, gently swaying from side to side as Ellie snuggled closer to him. He felt her body begin to relax, and her breathing became slower and deeper.
He knew that being a father was not easy, especially as a single parent, but moments like these made it all worthwhile. He felt blessed to have Ellie in his life and to be able to care for her and watch her grow.
As he gazed at his daughter, Thomas realized that he would do anything to protect and support her. He knew that his love for her would only continue to grow, and he looked forward to the many adventures they would have together.

But it wasn't long before Ellie started to whine and stir in his arms. Thomas looked up at the mirror in front of him and noticed that she was struggling to move her legs. They were stiff and seemed to be causing her discomfort.
He sighed and gently rubbed her legs in the hope that it would relieve the pressure she was feeling. "Shh, it's okay, Ellie," he murmured softly. "Just relax darling."
He continued to sway back and forth, holding her close to his chest, and soothing her with his voice. As he did, he couldn't help but think about how different his life was now that he was a father. He had always been the first footman at Downton Abbey, but now his life revolved around Ellie and her needs.
He had been apprehensive about becoming a father at first, worried about how he would cope.
But as soon as he held Ellie in his arms for the first time, all of his fears vanished. He knew that he would do anything to make sure that she was happy and healthy.
As he continued to rock her back and forth, he felt a surge of love for his daughter. He knew that there would be challenges ahead, but he was determined to face them head-on. He would do whatever it took to ensure that Ellie had the best possible life and show her despite what people might say about her and her disability.
"Sleep well, my little one," he whispered as he felt her body relax against his chest. "Daddy's here, and he'll always be here for you."
