Bargaining gets us nowhere
——
11 months later, a week before the weddingKlaus
"Klaus! Get off the computer and help me for godsake." Leilah pressured me from behind. I've been sitting in front of this screen for ages. Every single day since the incident.
It simply didn't make any sense.
—
"What- No, that's not how I remember it!" The doctor stood in front of me, while the nurses fixed the machines attached to me, which was one pint of blood my father donated and water to get it flowing.
"Listen klaus, I know it is difficult for you to comprehend-"
"It's not difficult, that is impossible."
He sighed and looked at my dad and sam who were standing there looking sorry for me. I don't even understand why they allowed her in the room, she almost killed me, but that's what they're not getting.
"You lost a lot of blood, you tactile hallucinated and it's something that could've happened even before you were shot and it messes with your brain and vision. It happens often. The woman you're talking about, never set foot inside this hospital, we had security check."
"No- no that can't be right, dad tell him!" Dad looked at me and held my shoulder. "No one has seen your mother since a week ago. She left the city son."
"No, no, now all of you are bullshitting me, that woman- her! She fucking shot me!"
All sam did was grin at me, but it quickly disappeared when everyone looked at her.
"Sedate him"
—
"I need to find her, she couldn't have just vanished out of thin air." I groaned and leaned back, my hands finding their way to my hair. I don't recall the last time I slept properly.
I haven't even spoken to sam since that day. My dad must be blind or some shit. Because every time I try to tell him he stops me and tells me "you know what the doctor said"
It's irritating. Because nobody believes me. There's not a single sign of her fiancé around the city too. I've seen her friend a couple of times coming from the college near my school.
But everytime he sees me he just avoids me. The only time I got the chance to ask him where she was, he told me he doesn't know, it was sort of a quick conversation if you could even call it that.
I even went to where she worked. No one has seen a single sign of her. Nothing. Something was definitely not right because she would just disappear without telling me. Or leaving any sign behind.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the baby that was suddenly on my lap. I diverted my gaze from her to Leilah, who stood in front of me tapping her foot "You need to spend some time with your sister."
"I have no time-" "Klaus come on. She's 1 month old and the closest you have to a relationship with her is when you put her to sleep." Damn it she was right. "You need to accept it, your mother is gone klaus. And it doesn't look like she's coming back."
