And forth to Varik Kelan goes
To place the elder made abode.
To speak of thing their act had brought
And grief their secret plan hade wroughtFor peasant girl and all her kin
That sure to death their secret sends.
Inside the hut he keeps he stormed
By will and patience frayed and warned. But Varike sat already dressed
With serene face not great distressed."My liege what words to elder man
Does cause the man in home to stand
But speak I'll lend the man my aid
And make so conscience effort gaveMay keep you well and ease your stress
So none our warring plan may test."The Kelan spoke and quickly told
The dread act before unfold.
Of peasant girl to home yet led
This morn by hand of men most dread."Our act we took yet forth in night
Has caused for others deepest strife.
A girl this morn to home was led
By hands of men to have her bledFor act we pair performed at night
Beneath the veil of faintest light.
We must yet speak revealing plan
That came about because of man."But Varik calmed by many years
Does speak and try to turn his fears."Is girl you spoke of forth then brought
Yet still in any danger wrought?"And Kelan quick replied at time
To tell the man of present bind."Cable does present guard her home
From all at village current roam
And seek to bring on peasant harm
Or raise against her great alarm."Then Varik though for moment brief
And spoke to try and ease his grief."At present moment danger gave
By telling task is very grave.
If people know the course we took
Or hunter place he's kept forsookA greater faith it surely cost
To know their warrior's pris'ner lost.
Great I suspect this thing is true
That men once knowing thing behoovedThe will of village man should leave
Though first it will of all would grieve
They'll leave the girl to be at time.
For better hope these folk will find."And Kelan nodded head and spoke
And words of elder present broke.
Your honeyed words to trust I've learned
But only subtle tricks have earnedThe faith I've place in elder man
No such a thing as present planned
If plan you've made does fail to win
And conflict brought doesn't cease to endNo choice I have but speaking mind
And risking men in village find
Our act to harsh to trust again
And far from place do dare to sendUs out from place we current keep
Though never such we both did seek."And speaking man did rise and turn
And hut of elder quickly spurned.
