And out of woods then Towan came
In arms his foe alive he deigned.
Into the rest of warring men
The foe their friendly fellow sends
Unto the ground his ankle wound
Then stood a tall yet proud of boon
He gave to rest of men at time
Their warring camp the man did find.
But all the warriors lept at sight
Their blades were drawn prepared to fight.
And Kelan spoke and told their cause
The custom gave by clannish laws.
"From far afield to place you crept
Though sent afar by hand adept
Returning fast with wounded friend
Who put imploring ways to end
What manner thinks this man to deign
On men whose patience long yet feigned
Does end at last at sight we see.
To think that foes would grant you leave
When seeing hurt to fellow give
For sake of hurt he former bid.
When man defeated fiend that day
In dueling feat for which you bade."
And Towan took at offense at word
The man from leader current heard.
Though staying hand from giving death
To former foe who laid bereft
Of any help yet still he's thought
The one who all this mischief wrought.
And purple hue of blade ignites
As all prepare to join the fight.
But Saubio speaks and turns aside
The words his helper long derides.
From ground though harshly lain he speaks
And turns aside their warring feat.
"I bid you all to lay aside
The wrath in hearts that long abides
Against the man who help did give
Though men do deem his acts unbid.
He found his foe inside a trap
In spit of rage he quick did act
And lent his mercy down to man
He former stopped his vaunted plans."
And all about did blanch to see
That man no cause for death did heed
The rest to draw aloft their blades
Or reason gave to foe yet slay.
Then Kelan spoke and quickly gave
His words in hopes that peace they made
"I'm sorry judgment hasty give
A death to man did almost bid.
When fellow only tried to heed
And help the rest in warring deed ."
The slowly glowing blade he turned
To show that way of war he spurned.
And all the warring men now spoke
And words of peace at long were smote.
Terrible decision. They should never allow that brute anywhere near the order. This is the reason stories like these are so frowned upon by the order. They encourage poor decision making.
