And many hours did Cable keep
The home of girl from those who seek
To great inflict yet any hurt
Or go about to mischief's work.Though man did doubt the girl inside
Who deep in hut did current bide
His feudal honor held it's sway
And work he's bid the Jedi gave. And many days did come and go
Through many nights did cable bode
Unmoved from post his liege had gave
Though task was seldom great or grave. And used the force to slumber half
Awake prepared for battle task
To strive against yet any hurt
And stop the hand of mischief's hurtShould either fall on head of those
Who deep on self exile impose.
For fear of neighbors daunting ways
As such at present hour bade. Then after many days of task
And doing well as Kelan ask.
Then sudden girl from hut emerged
That task the health of family urged. And Cable looked and harshly spoke
Yet still his vows refused be broke."You suspect manner coming forth
In midst of night to trouble court
Already's brought your family harm
And even higher great alarm.I bid you wait to decent hour
When sun does show it's better power
And lights the act's that maiden works
So folk may know no grief or hurtYou seek to reap in midst of night
Or bring on head of rest a strife."But maiden spoke and scorned his ways
And biting words the peasant gave."This time is best for maid to go
On down and too the wat'ring hole
To fetch a drink for rest of kin
That far on errand current sendThe girl who rest of village hate
And path I take would fail abate
To let me go about my work
Though maid intended no one hurt.If man objects then stand aside
The path on which the maid shall bide."But still his feudal order's gave
Does Cable know and winds away
To go with girl though thinking poor
Of time she rose to do her chore.
