"Now quick" the warrior heeding spoke
With voice commanding will be smote
"I bid you go and feeble tale
To all the men of town to tell
Though sure they'll know that thing is lie
Yet still I wish to know at time
What ones will come though truth not gave
A follow through on thing as bade.
That thrice what men have spoking told
You'll offer forth to hand as gold
To come and serve though service gave
Might surely lead these folk to grave."
And peasant men to task now went
Though thinking pointless errand sent
The man these folk to tell this lie
As town did know the truth defied
The mind of men already sought
By price the peasants former brought
Who knew for sure a falsehood told
The peasant made about their gold.
But still they went and did as bid
On orders warring man had give.
And soon the town about his home
Had gathered near and milling roamed.
And after midday came then spoke
The warring man and crowd yet broke.
"I bid yet all except those gave
To use the force and wield the blade
Are bidden go from place I keep
Deserting well the gold you seek."
And many milling men did leave
The grumbling mass of gold bereaved.
But twenty two alone did stay
In front of door to home he's gave.
Inside he brought them one by one
No shelter gave from midday sun
The rest who sat and long did wait
To know the choice that ruled their fate.
And five did leave resenting man
To make them wait on such a plan.
The rest now stayed till last had spoke
Though sun was high and downward smote.
