"I don't want to die." That was replaying over and over in Steve's head in her voice. It haunted Steve for these past 2 weeks. She is unconscious in the medical wing of the tower and Steve has refused to leave her side. Bucky would leave to clean up, bring Steve a change of clothes, and food for the two of them. Bucky had never seen Steve so broken before and it was hurting him to the core to see his boyfriend and girlfriend in such states.
"Strange says that she still has all of her brain activity... meaning that this is a psychologically induced coma. So it is up to her for her to wake up." Bucky stated to Steve who just nodded. "I asked Strange if we could move her to our room... maybe a more comfortable environment would help... he agreed. So she will be coming home." Bucky's hope that it would give some spark back into Steve which was shattered when the soldier's demeanor did not change a bit.
"I see the soldier is not fairing well." A familiar voice sneered. The two turned to see Loki leaning against the door frame. "Romanoff filled me in on the whole ordeal. You pouting over her like a hurt puppy will not help her."
"LOKI!" Bucky shouted.
"I am sorry Metal Armed Man... my brother was just..." Thor started as he ran into the room in a panic.
"He's right..." Steve spoke. "This isn't what she needs..." Steve then stood and nodded to Loki in thanks. Loki returned the gesture and then looked down at the woman.
"Will she be alright?" Loki asked.
"Why do you care?" Bucky snapped.
"Because they are friends." Thor quipped back cheerfully. Loki rolled his eyes.
"Oaf... I don't have friends." Loki mumbled.
"Well she will be sad to hear that." Natasha stated entering the room. Loki rolled his eyes again and stormed out.
"Ah... My brother seems to consider Lady Y/n a friend as well." Thor teased.
"LETS GO YOU BLUBBERING IDIOT!" Loki shouted down the hall. Thor bowed before leaving. Bucky and Steve were in shock. They didn't remember Loki and Y/n ever even speaking to each other. Steve looked to Natasha for explanation but the distained look on her face answered it for him. They became close while they were being neglectful of her.
----
It had now been a month and Y/n was still in a coma. Loki had come to their room everyday to read something to her while they just watched him in silence. When he would leave, they would call the nurse to ensure she was being given everything she needed. She had a feeding tube and each night, neither of them could sleep. They just stared at her. They were watching Loki read to her one day and he suddenly stopped. Loki had been thinking about this for a while and though he rather enjoyed seeing Steve Rogers suffer, he didn't like it at the expense of his friend. Loki sighed and turned to the pitiful soldiers with a hardened expression.
"I think I can help her. I don't know if it will work but if it does... it'll help wake her." The boys shot their heads up.
"Why are you waiting until now to suggest this?" Bucky asked through his teeth.
"To respect her privacy." Loki said plainly. "With the help of Wanda, I would be sending you two into her head. That wizard you have did say the coma was psychological. That means something is keeping her from waking up." With that Loki got up to leave.
"We'll do it." Steve stated. Bucky turned to his boyfriend.
"Steve..." Bucky started in a comforting voice.
"We have been terrible boyfriends to her. We didn't even know that Loki and her had become friends..." Bucky bowed his head. "We owe it to her to fix this... we don't deserve to know what is inside her head, but we have to save her."
----
"I still feel like I should be going in there with you two." Natasha stated.
"That would take more power than we have Nat." Wanda responded kindly. "Besides, it most likely is what is going on with these two that is the cause of it. Only they can fix it."
